その通りである。

I got a glimpse of the joy of writing freely, writing words that no one else will ever know.

On the first day of December, it was decided that I would be reassigned to a department that did not have a night shift, starting in April. It's a full-time day job that I've been waiting for for the last year, but after April I might be away from writing. When I thought about this, I felt the urge to have someone else read my writing.
I started this writing on December 2, 9 night shifts = 4.5 hours, so far about 800 words. Oddly enough, it's close to two pages and one line. In the past week, we have seen a rapid escalation of cases of COVID-19.
More cases and deaths have now been reported in the rest of the world than in China.
We have also seen a rapid escalation in social distancing measures, like closing schools and cancelling sporting events and other gatherings.
But we have not seen an urgent enough escalation in testing, isolation and contact tracing – which is the backbone of the response.
Social distancing measures can help to reduce transmission and enable health systems to cope.
Handwashing and coughing into your elbow can reduce the risk for yourself and others.
But on their own, they are not enough to extinguish this pandemic. It’s the combination that makes the difference.
As I keep saying, all countries must take a comprehensive approach.
But the most effective way to prevent infections and save lives is breaking the chains of transmission. And to do that, you must test and isolate.
You cannot fight a fire blindfolded. And we cannot stop this pandemic if we don’t know who is infected.
We have a simple message for all countries: test, test, test.
If they test positive, isolate them and find out who they have been in close contact with up to 2 days before they developed symptoms, and test those people too. [NOTE: WHO recommends testing contacts of confirmed cases only if they show symptoms of COVID-19]
Every day, more tests are being produced to meet the global demand.
WHO has shipped almost 1.5 million tests to 120 countries. We’re working with companies to increase the availability of tests for those most in need.
WHO advises that all confirmed cases, even mild cases, should be isolated in health facilities, to prevent transmission and provide adequate care.
But we recognize that many countries have already exceeded their capacity to care for mild cases in dedicated health facilities.
In that situation, countries should prioritize older patients and those with underlying conditions.
Some countries have expanded their capacity by using stadiums and gyms to care for mild cases, with severe and critical cases cared for in hospitals.
Another option is for patients with mild disease to be isolated and cared for at home.
Caring for infected people at home may put others in the same household at risk, so it’s critical that care-givers follow WHO’s guidance on how to provide care as safely as possible.
For example, both the patient and their care-giver should wear a medical mask when they are together in the same room.
The patient should sleep in a separate bedroom to others and use a different bathroom.
Assign one person to care for the patient, ideally someone who is in good health and has no underlying conditions.
The care-giver should wash their hands after any contact with the patient or their immediate environment.
People infected with COVID-19 can still infect others after they stop feeling sick, so these measures should continue for at least two weeks after symptoms disappear.
Visitors should not be allowed until the end of this period.

Once again, our key message is: test, test, test.
This is a serious disease. Although the evidence we have suggests that those over 60 are at highest risk, young people, including children, have died.
WHO has issued new clinical guidance, with specific details on how to care for children, older people and pregnant women.
So far, we have seen epidemics in countries with advanced health systems. But even they have struggled to cope.
As the virus moves to low-income countries, we're deeply concerned about the impact it could have among populations with high HIV prevalence, or among malnourished children.
That’s why we’re calling on every country and every individual to do everything they can to stop transmission.
Washing your hands will help to reduce your risk of infection. But it’s also an act of solidarity because it reduces the risk you will infect others in your community and around the world. Do it for yourself, do it for others.
We also ask people to express their solidarity by refraining from hoarding essential items, including medicines.
Hoarding can create shortages of medicines and other essential products, which can exacerbate suffering.
We’re grateful to everyone who has contributed to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.
Since we launched it on Friday, more than 110,000 people have contributed almost 19 million U.S. dollars.

I'm a Chinese. I have been gathering information about the coronavirus from the Chinese internet. Here I share some measures that can protect you from the new coronavirus. It may save your life. The death rate outside of HuBei province is low because we have taken extreme and strong measures to cut off the virus spreading. When the infected population rises rapidly, the local medical system will breakdown in a short time. The hospitals will be full of fever patients who have breathing difficulties, and the shortage of medical resources will cause huge casualties. This is what happening in WuHan now. China has sent thousands of doctors to Wuhan and built two new hospitals in just one week, and prepared many quarantine centers. BUT it's still not enough now.
First, personal equipment is extremely important. The n95 masks have been sold out for a long time in China now. Keep in mind that China has the largest surgical mask manufacturing industry. Please buy them as many as possible now, no matter how expensive.
If you can't buy the n95 medical masks, the n95 industry masks can also do the job. If you are in Europe, please buy the FFP2/FFP3 masks, they have the same filtering level. If the n95 masks have a valve, it can still protect you but it can't protect others if you are infected.

The eye protectors can help you to prevent being infected through the eye. We have strong evidence that the new coronavirus can spread through the eye-air contact. If you can't buy them, the swimming glass can do the same job (even better).
Considering that you may face masks shortage, the 75% alcohol disinfectant and UV disinfection lamp can disinfect masks for reusing them. Prepare enough alcohol disinfectant and a UV lamp for your family.
Don't use dirty hands to rub your eyes. Clean your hand with a portable hand sanitizer before eating and drinking.
When the new coronavirus outbreaks in your city and you have to go to the hospital to treat other diseases, please remember to wear n95 masks, eye protectors and gloves. Many patients and doctors are infected in Chinese hospitals. They weared the common medical masks but they are not 100% effective.

When it comes to drugs, I can't recommend anyone since the doctors are still trying. I believe the Remdesivir is effective however it's still in the experiment and you can't buy them from the market. They have tested Remdesivir in WuHan hospital and hopefully the result will come out in 10 days. However, there is one drug that has been proved effective by many Chinese doctors and it has been used for dealing with malaria for a long time. It's Hydroxychloroquine. It's not OTC, therefore, you can't buy it without a prescription. Don't use any drugs before asking your doctor.
If you are living in an apartment in a crowded city like New York, Japan, and Hong Kong, please remember that the new coronavirus can spread in the elevator. The coronavirus can also spread through the sewer and it has been proved by a very famous issue in Hong Kong when SARS outbreaks in a crowded apartment in 2003. Seal your drains in the toilet if anyone has been infected in your apartment and please avoid using elevators.
When you have a fever, please measure the body temperature many times a day. The patients may only have low fever. Some patients (the percentage is still not sure) will have breathing difficulty in about one week. When you feel it's diffcult to breath, please report to your doctor as soon as possible.
There are three levels at which we may communicate about things: object, experience and concept. As we go up the levels of abstraction, ideas increase and reality recedes.
1. Object
At the 'object' level, we talk about tangible material things, many of which we can touch and pick up. The truth of an object is independent of people (unless, of course, you are an existentialist). It exists whether we are there or not.
2. Experiences
At the experience level, we talk about the experiences we have had. This now has the abstraction of interpretation. However, it is still very real to us, at least.
When two people talk about a common experience, they refer to the same objects, but may have different feelings about them. This is a common source of conversation, interest and maybe conflict, as we often expect others to have the same experiences as us.
3. Concepts
At the conceptual level of communication, we talk about ideas and thoughts we have had. Concepts include our beliefs, values and schemas. These are internal constructions that are abstracted away from reality, although we often mistake them to be that reality they represent.
Words are effectively concepts in the way they are little packets of meaning by which we try to communicate. Concepts can be accepted or rejected, however and the same word may be interpreted differently by different people.
When I listen to your experience, I receive it as a concept and hence can evaluate it and put my own interpretation on it. When we communicate, much of what we say is conceptual, which is one reason why communication is so difficult.

There will not be any solutions or plans presented in line with these figures here today, because these numbers are too uncomfortable. And you are still not mature enough to tell it like it is.

Reid Hoffman apologizes for role in Epstein-linked donations to MIT
My few interactions with Jeffrey Epstein came at the request of Joi Ito, for the purposes of fundraising for the MIT Media Lab. Prior to these interactions, I was told by Joi that Epstein had cleared the MIT vetting process, which was the basis for my participation. My last interaction with Epstein was in 2015. Still, by agreeing to participate in any fundraising activity where Epstein was present, I helped to repair his reputation and perpetuate injustice. For this, I am deeply regretful.

MIT Media Lab founder defends embattled director's decision to accept money from Jeffrey Epstein (The Boston Globe)
In an e-mail to the Globe sent after the meeting, Negroponte said he told Ito that “he should” take Epstein’s contribution, and “I would say that again based on what we knew at the time. . . . “Epstein is an extreme case. But then do you take Koch money? Do you take Huawei money? And on and on?” Negroponte said.

I had known of Joi’s contact with Epstein since about the beginning. He had reached out to me to discuss it. We are friends (Joi and I), and he knew I would be upset by his working with a pedophile.

And nothing in his experience with Epstein contradicted this belief.

I know that Farrow’s article is crafted to draw the following sentence into doubt: Everything Joi did in accepting Epstein’s money he did with MIT’s approval. I trust the MIT review will confirm it (yes, I remain exactly that naive). So why is he resigning, rather than others in the administration?

So put the parts together: The MediaLab accepted an anonymous contribution from Epstein through the help and direction of Joi. The Lab did not (as “Professor Anonymous” wrote to me, his outrage apparently blinding him to irony) “help reputation-launder a convicted sex offender.” It would have, had it not be anonymous; but that’s the point about it being anonymous.

Peter Cohen, a former director of development and strategy, said in a statement that when he joined the Media Lab in 2014, it already had established procedures for handling Epstein’s contributions. Cohen said he understood that those policies were “authorized by and implemented with the full knowledge of MIT central administration.”

Second, it is now clear that senior members of the administration were aware of gifts the Media Lab received between 2013 and 2017 from Jeffrey Epstein’s foundations. Goodwin Procter has found that in 2013, when members of my senior team learned that the Media Lab had received the first of the Epstein gifts, they reached out to speak with Joi Ito. He asked for permission to retain this initial gift, and members of my senior team allowed it. They knew in general terms about Epstein’s history – that he had been convicted and had served a sentence and that Joi believed that he had stopped his criminal behavior. They accepted Joi’s assessment of the situation. Of course they did not know what we all know about Epstein now.

Joi sought the gifts for general research purposes, such as supporting lab scientists and buying equipment. Because the members of my team involved believed it was important that Epstein not use gifts to MIT for publicity or to enhance his own reputation, they asked Joi to agree to make clear to Epstein that he could not put his name on them publicly. These guidelines were provided to and apparently followed by the Media Lab.

Information shared with us last night also indicates that Epstein gifts were discussed at at least one of MIT’s regular senior team meetings, and I was present.

I am aware that we could and should have asked more questions about Jeffrey Epstein and about his interactions with Joi. Famed Computer Scientist Richard Stallman Described Epstein Victims As 'Entirely Willing' (The Vice)
Early in the thread, Stallman insists that the “most plausible scenario” is that Epstein’s underage victims were “entirely willing” while being trafficked.

ひきこもっていた。よく覚えていない。
母と折り合いが悪く、父と住んでいた。
すんげーデブいじりされた。同室の元ヤンと買い出しに行ったときに、
一番デカいポップコーンを手にしたら、"納得だわー"といじられる。
俺もすげー納得したので後にジムに通った。
元ヤンは大型取りに来てる人で、車をもってきてた。こっそり海に連れて行ってくれたりした。
浜辺に転がっていたウニに車の鍵を突き立てて、中身をすすった。粗野な味がした。密漁だよな。
ちなみに適正検査は全て最低だったし、VRで受けた危険予測講習では、

より良くなったる！と決意。
一時期、はてなに氾濫していたlifehack、英語記事を全ブクマ。自己啓発書を読みあさる。
"道は拓ける"したかったし、"思考は現実化する"したかった。全部、真に受けた。元気だけはあった。
じっとできない、瞑想できない。野菜350g取れない。今も取れてない。
何度か上記の流れを繰り返した後に、
非正規だったが、二年後には正規に、という今思えばクソほど有り難い話だった。
公衆の面前で誰かを痛罵する人もいなければ、生ゴミぶっかけるやつもいなかった。
周りのおいちゃん達はすきあらばタバコ休憩とソリティアしてたから、
コツコツやってればうさぎと亀というか、そこそここなせていた。
お互い読書や音楽が好きだったこともあり、すこし話すようになった。
本の貸し借りを何度かした。俺は穂村弘とか、向田邦子とかを貸した。
売れっ子かぁ、と舐めてかかって読んで、ビビりまくった。超よかった。
一緒に中洲ジャズにいった。後ろ姿が凛としていて、綺麗だった。
やれたかも委員会の各エピソードは、それがその夜の最適解だと思う。
5時起きは続けてた。DUO3.0やall in oneの例文を単語帳アプリのflashcards deluxeに突っ込んで、
ひたすらシャドウイングしていた。こういう反復作業、めっちゃ得意だった。ADHDで良かった。
ああ、中学行ってないから、導入に教科書と発音用にフォニックスは挟んだ。
完全英語上達マップとか、ライフハック記事に踊らされまくってた。俺だけじゃないよな？
例文でコアラの生態を知って戦慄した。毒ばっか食うてんのかよ。
交通事故でしにがちなんかよ。なんか、ごめんと思った。
そこらへんから、色々と英語で読み下せるようになり、面白くなった。
アクセスできる情報が一気に増えて、"ネットは広大だわ”ってなった。
ご多分に漏れずrarejobもやった。英会話学校も通った。放送大学の単科受講生にもなった。
何も知らずに上辺だけでやり通すのに無理も感じていた。
貯金もある程度できてたので仕事をやめ、バイトしながら夜間大学に行こうと思った。
一番行きたかった神戸市外大の2部には落ちた。地元の2部に通うことにした。
親の力も多分に借りて、一人暮らしを始めた。
27-今
少し背伸びして部屋をしつらえて、初めて友達を家に招いたりした。
一年の頃、大分辛かった。生徒の大半は学習に意欲的でなく、先生もそのことに疲れていた。
鳥が先か、卵が先かというような話ではある。
放送大学の講義、面白かったなぁ、とか思ってた。大学の使い方がよくわかってなかった。
狭い教室での講義も増えた。すこし質問もできるようになり、楽しくなった。
英語で行われる講義や、留学生混合の講義に参加するようにした。
先生に"どこで育ったの？"と聞かれるくらいには話せた。結構、込み入った議論もできた。
ありがとう、はてな、ありがとう、ライフハック。アジア圏からの留学生の賢さにびびった。
そのうちの一人とは縁あって付き合いが長くなり、同棲した。喧嘩もよくした。
母国語でキレたときはやばいと学んだ。まぁ、未だにビビッドな記憶なので、詳細は割愛する。
ただ当時、元彼女が家族とskypeするのを見ながら、家族観もだいぶ影響された。
元彼女はほぼ毎日、おかんと"鯖？"、"じゅてーむ、おぶわー"の人だった。
散々、罵倒しあってきて、今も仲良しこよしじゃないけど、
俺は両親のことを愛してる、といえるようにはなった。
家族間でのトラブルがあったりして、すごく荒んでいた。バイトもきつくなりはじめた。
弁護士相談とかしながら、家ではおっさんなのに泣いてばかりいた。
あまりに身内ネタでエグくて、身内同士でやりあうと行くとこまで行っちゃう感じのやつで、
彼女には心配をかけるばかりで、内容を話せなかった。凄く未熟だった。
彼女をスポイルしてしまう気がして、一緒にいるのが本当に申し訳なくて、別れてもらった。
妹に絶縁された。家から出られなくなった。知り合いにあいたくなかった。
寝れなかった。薬の量が増えた。netflixつけた。
限度額だった。水が止まった。未払い2、3ヶ月で止まると知った。
親父がきた。前より老けてた。凄く泣いた。
久々に参加した講義で、全く英語が話せなかった。超久々にflashcards deluxe開いた。
DUO3.0やら金のフレーズやらやった。すげぇ楽しかった。一ヶ月くらいで話せるように戻った。
それ以外の、少し背伸びして選んだ講義は歯ごたえあるけど、楽しかった。
質問も良くするようになった。わかんない事が多すぎるし、
三十路になった分、面の皮も厚くなった。
後輩だった似たような境遇のおっさんが、大学の事務室で働くようになってた。
涙が出るぐらい嬉しかった。
最近、元彼女ともジムで再会した。幸せそうにしていて、ほっとした。謝った。
"学校はいってる？"だとか、"仕事大丈夫？"だとかひどく心配された。
あんな別れ方をしたのに、まだ友人でいてくれるのが有難かった。
それで、この間のやつを書いた。ついたブコメは本当に全部読んだ。
読みすぎるくらいに読んだ。なんか泣いたりもしたし、
俺の考えが至らなくて悪かったと思うことも沢山あった。
一つ一つ返事したかったけど、明日からテスト期間でちょっと難しそうだ。
昔も今も、俺にとってはブコメの方がその他のメディアよりもずっと距離が近くて。
色んな人が大真面目に、時に露悪的に、物事について話してるのに影響されてきた。
はてぶには、どんなポジションの人でも、弱者に対する視線が柔らかい人が多いような気がする。
そういうのに日々、助けられた。外に出始めてから、出会った人々の中には、
本当に人を削るようなことを躊躇わない人も多かった。
みんな、人のこと構ってられるほど余裕がないから。
学もスキルもない俺がアクセスしやすい職場ほど、ポリコレやら、
アファーマティブ・アクションやら、そういう横文字の綺麗事からは距離があった。
だから、建前であれ、誰かに優しくあろうとする人は本当に凄いと思う。
ポリティカル・コレクトネスの是非とかあるけど、
それを（建前でも）歓迎できない世の中は、ちょっと息苦しいから。
そうそう。勿論、joy divisionも好きだし、UniqloのコラボTもゲトった。
James Blakeも好きだよ。今年はtoro y moiとかも新譜出したし、
chillwaveが流行ってた頃のアーティストのリリースが多くて、嬉しかったな。
あと去年だけど、小袋成彬とか本当にやべー日本人でてきて、それも嬉しかった。
Asianとして、88risingの躍進は楽しんでる。Yaejiかわいい。
映画も超好きなまま。最近、ラースフォントリアーの"ハウスジャックビルト"を観たかな。
相変わらずの胸糞映画で、芸風変わってねえな！と思った。
恐ろしい労力をかけて作られた、最高の精神安定剤やで。
シュヴァンクマイエルもびっくりや。
おかげで教育うけられたわ。恋愛できたわ、貝になったわ、もう色々だったわ。
そう言えば、引きこもりやめて、初めてできた友達もはてぶのユーザーだったわ。

With early numbers for G:KotM coming in, it seems clear that this is headed towards being a rather large flop.
The next (and as of now, final) film planned for the Monsterverse is "Godzilla vs. Kong", set to be released next year.
With that film already deep into postproduction, it seems unlikely that it will be cancelled in light of KotM flopping.
So what more can Legendary do? The first Godzilla and Kong made good money and were well-received by critics.
KotM seems to be the outlier.
Legendary has stated that the continued existence of the Monsterverse all hinges on how KotM and GvK are received.
How can they turn GvK into a success?
Is it even still possible at this point?
Can the Monsterverse still be viable, or is this just another franchise to add to the Failed Cinematic Universe pile?
