生活保護と借金は全く別の話なので、そこをとっちらかしてる時点で論外な感想やなあという感想。
ちなみに自分的には”Lend your money and lose your friend.（金を貸して友を失う『ハムレット』）"をもじった、「友達に金を貸したら金も友達も失う」という言葉が重いと思う。こっちの出典は知らんけど、金を貸したらもう相手とは対等の関係じゃなくなるのよな。そもそも対等の友達関係（互恵的・ウィンウィン）を前提に貸したはずの金は、両者が対等の友達でなくなり単なる金貸しと客の関係（敵対的・ゼロサム）に陥った時点で、好意を宛てにした返却が期待できないものになる。その場合相手をしばるものは契約しかない。「金を貸して金も友も失う」とはそういうことだと思う。
ただ、もちろん友達が困窮しているときに黙って見過ごすのは友達ではない、とも思う。だから、そういうときにはただ黙って金を渡すしかない。金は失うが友は失わなくて済む。「金を貸すなら返されないつもりで……」というのは、本来そういう意味なのだと思うよ。

あんまり突飛な予想はできないし、割と”当たり前”な方向の予想しかしてないので。ほぼ確実に外れます……
1つ目は、酒とバラの日々(Days of Wine and Roses)について。S6Ep01の冒頭は、この映画の音楽をBGMに、恐らくブレイキングバッドで逃がし屋で逃げた後、ソウルの屋敷が差押えされるシーンがセリフ無しで描写される。映画「酒とバラの日々」では、アル中の夫婦の内、夫は立ち直るが、妻はアル中を認めずに夫の元から去ってゆく。この"アル中"は、BcSにおいてはハワードをはめる詐欺、悪事の事ではなかろうか。キムが悪事を止める事・認める事が出来ずに、ソウルの元を去っていく、もしくはソウルと何らかの理由により離ればなれにならざるを得ないという事で、これはBreaking Badにキムが出てこない事の説明になる。Breaking Badの時代にはキムは死んでいるという予想も世では根強いが、これは正直あり得ないと思う。理由は後述。
S6がスタートし、ジミー&キムは、ケトルマン夫妻との類似点が強く示唆されてる。ジミーはキムの言う事に強く影響される。
クレイグケトルマンはベッツィーの言いなりだ。役所から金をくすねたのも、ほぼ間違いなく彼女の入れ知恵で、その言い訳についても彼女の受け売りだ。彼らが横領した金をマイクが盗み、それをジミーがばらした時、金に執着を示した(金のありかに飛んで行った)のもベッツィーで、クレイグはあまり執着していなかった。「ピクニック」のテントでジミーとお金のバッグを引っ張り合ったのもベッツィーだ。S1Ep04で、くすねたお金の正当性をジミーに話しているときも、クレイグは事前にベッツィーに言い含められたことを喋っているに過ぎない。クレイグが執着したのはベッツィーだ。S1Ep01で初登場した際に、ベッツィーは赤いブレスレットと鞄を見につけているが、クレイグはライトブルーのシャツにネイビーのネクタイだ。赤は犯罪やその人の危険性を示している。いい人は青い。(cf. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tN2K_Rq_K4 / https://twitter.com/petergould/status/570055433001369600)
他方、ジミーとキムについてみてみると、S1Ep05で、ネイルサロンでキムがジミーに高齢者法を勧めた直後、ジミーはチャックに高齢者法を専門にしようかと語っている。S6Ep01では、キムが「ソウルが乗る車はこういうの、ソウルの事務所はこういうの」とジミーに彼女の思うソウル像を語っている。S5Ep10から言及されだしたハワードを陥れる事についても、ジミーが乗り気でなかったのを、キムが促した。S6Ep03でも、ジミーはヒューエルに"A couple months from now, there are people whose lives are gonna be way better." と語っている。これはS5Ep10でキムに吹き込まれたことそのままだ。ジミーはキムの言う事をどんどん内面化している。そして、クレイグと同じく、ジミーも妻であるキムに執着している。
クレイグが詐欺などの言い訳をベッツィーに吹き込まれた通り喋ってるのは、ジミーのこれらの出来事と恐ろしいほど似通ってる。この2つのカップルの違いは、金に執着するベッツィーと、正義に執着するキムなんだと自分は予想する。勿論この正義はキムの考える正義で、それを実現するのはハワードを陥れる事によってすぐ手に入るサンドパイパー和解金で、結局金だ。キムはハワードに散々嫌がらせをされ、ジミーを貶されて気分を害してきたが、彼の社会的生命を終わらせるのは完全に一線を超えている。
ここまで2組のカップルの共通点を描いてきた制作チームが、このことをこれから起こる事の暗示として使っていないとは思えない。
実際、ジミーはここまでキムの言いなりで来たわけではない。キムが嫌がる事もやってきた。だからこそ、S6でそれが変わることの暗示としてケトルマン夫妻を再登場させたのでは？
ただ、ケトルマン夫妻は、少なくとも今の所、お互いを裏切るような事はしていない。これがジミーとキムの今後にも当てはまってくれることを願ってやまない。例え"Days of Wine and Roses"のように、キムがジミーの元を去る、もしくはなんらかの理由で離ればなれになるとしても。
滑りのジミー(Slippin' Jimmy)という二つ名を持ち、シカゴサンルーフを(運悪く)子供にみられて性犯罪者になりかけたジミー。彼ははS1では兄思いの善良な人間だった。更生していたのだ。そして独立開業の弁護士として悪戦苦闘してもいた。金に困って当たり屋をたくらんだり、横領犯のケトルマン夫妻から弁護士報酬として口止め料を受け取ったりはしたが、そもそも金に困った原因はチャック(兄)にもある事が描写されている。チャックの負担が無ければ困っていなかったのかどうかは判断がつかないが。
S1終盤に兄の2度にわたる裏切りが発覚し、Marcoの形見のピンキーリング(Slippin' Jimmyの象徴)を身につけ、少し"カラフル"にはなったものの、ジミーはS6になっても、未だに暴力的な事に拒否感を示し、ケトルマン夫妻のような非暴力犯罪者へのシンパシーをも持っている。これはBreaking Badで描かれていたソウル・グッドマンとは明らかに一線を画している。
BrBaS2Ep08で、「ヤツ(バッジャー)を殺せばいい」と言ったり、S5Ep10でハンクを"ベリーズ送り(殺すの暗喩)"にする事を提案するような、一線を越えたソウル・グッドマンにはまだなっていない。フランチェスカに白眼視されるようになった理由もまだ不明だ(ベターコールソウルではまだ非常に愛想が良い)。あと10エピソードでこのラインを超えるにはどういう流れがあるか、と考えると、これはもう「そうある事をキムが望んだから」以外に無いんじゃないかと現時点では思ってる。多分99%外れるんだろうが。実際、ジミーはBreaking Badでキムが「El Camino」で話したような車と事務所を実現している。これが、ケトルマン夫妻との類似点を描いてきた元になっていると考える。
一方でキムはどうか。貧しい家庭に生まれ、HHMの郵便室で働きながらロースクールに通い、弁護士になった。S1では上昇志向で、ハワードみたいなまっとうな弁護士に憧れて、そうなろうとしている彼女がいる。S1では法に触れる事も倫理的な問題もない。
S2Ep01で、キムはBreaking Badの最初の一歩を踏み出す。被害者はケンだ。ホテルのバーでGiselleとなり、ジミー扮するViktorと一緒に株屋をハメて、高級テキーラを奢らせた。しかし、せっかくD&M(有力弁護士事務所)に入れたジミーが、スクワットコブラーの証拠ビデオを捏造するという「危ない橋」を渡った事を非難し、二度としないで、という位には理性的だった。しかし、S2も後半になると、独立と同時にHHMから引き抜いた大規模クライアントメサ・ヴェルデを、チャックの口先で取り戻されてしまう。ジミーは書類を書き換え、兄に恥をかかせる事で、メサ・ヴェルデをキムの手に戻すことに成功する。キムはこのことを知るもジミーを責められず、逆に証拠隠滅を促すまでになっている。
S4ではヒューエルの投獄を避けるために、自ら大掛かりなお芝居を発案し、ジミーと一緒に検察・法廷を欺く。S5では暴走気味のジミーの足手纏いにならないように(という言い訳で)ついに結婚。ジミーがカルテルと仕事をするのも止められず、ジミーの危機には自らカルテルのボスに接触したり、言い負かしたりし、ついにはハワードを陥れる計画を立てるまでに。理由は社会的弱者への弁護に必要な金を調達するため、ではあるが。
S6Ep02の最後には、赤黒だんだら模様のブラウスを着て腕組みしており、最早悪人として描かれている。Ep03ではさらに「I guess it's basically... Do you wanna be a friend of the cartel, or do you wanna be a rat?」なんてセリフを吐くまでになっている。
こうしてみると、この物語が始まった時からの変化は、キムの方がジミーよりも何倍も大きいように思える。もはやS1の頃の、「あと2年頑張れば大手事務所のパートナーになれる」まっとうなキムは居ない。この先、さらにエスカレートしたキムが理想とするソウル・グッドマン。Better Call SaulのジミーとBreaking Badのソウルを超える壁は、このキムの理想・想像ではなかろうか、という予想は的外れだろうか。
Season5までの第一話は、Breaking Badで逃亡した後、ジーン・タカヴィクという人になり切ったジミーのモノクロ・フラッシュフォワード・コールドオープンで始まる。Season6のポスターは、そのジーン(白黒)が色鮮やかな赤い上着を羽織ろうとする瞬間が使われている。ソウル・グッドマンの復活の暗示(ほとんど明示)だ。
これは、Better Call Saul S4Ep05のコールドオープンで、フランチェスカに頼んだ11月12日の午後3時の件でもあるだろう。
さて、ジミー・モーガン・マッギルは、逃亡直前ソウル・グッドマン事務所に置いておいた金とわずかな思い出の品だけを持って姿を消し、ジーン・タカヴィクとなった。そのジーン・タカヴィクがソウル・グッドマンに戻る動機はどれくらいあるのか？想像力に乏しい自分には、キム・ウェクスラーの為としか思えない。どういう窮地のキムをどうやって助けるのか？これも想像力無さすぎて分からない……
一方で、キムを窮地に陥れるのか？という問題だが、こちらも現時点ではラロしか思い浮かばない。Better Call Saul最強ヴィラン笑うボス。彼は、Breaking Badでのガスのセリフ「あんたとホアキンだけだった。彼が最後の身内だ。サラマンカの名前は— あんたで終わりだ」と、Breaking Badでは一度も姿を見せない事で、Breaking Badタイムラインが始まる前に死亡しているというのが通説だった(名前だけはソウル・グッドマンが言及している)。
ここまで、Better Call SaulはBreaking Badの前日譚として、数々のEaster Eggを飾り立ててきた。それらはかなりストレートかつ不自然さのないものだった。視聴者的にも予想を裏切られるようなEaster Eggは無かったように思う。1点だけ、予想外のEaster Eggを埋め込んでくるとしたらここではないか、ここでそれを使うのが一番効果的ではないか？というメタ視点で、ラロの生存を予想している。生存とはいっても、ソウルはラロの死を知らず、ガスやヘクター(こちらだけは万一がありうるか？)はラロの生存もしらない。そういう形の計画的失踪をたくらめる知性も持っている。お膳立ては十分では？
以上、まぁ大した事も書いてないが、この中の少しでも当たってたら後からドヤ顔したいので、アリバイ的に投稿しておく。
いやぁ、しかしまぁ、本当に面白いドラマだよ。世界最高峰だよ。脚本だけじゃない、演技も映像も音楽も、すべてが最高峰。今のご時世、一挙配信ビンジウォッチ(一気見)が流行りだけど、1話ずつ(S6最初は2話公開だったが)公開されて、1週間その話題と次の予想でここまで盛り上がれる作品が今あるんだろうか？これからこれを超える作品が出てくるんだろうか？それが疑問に思えてしょうがないレベルでベターコールソウルにぞっこんだ。
