「三歩歩けば忘れる」などと揶揄されることもある鶏。
でも鶏と共に過ごし経験を共有すると、かれらがいかに感情豊かで賢く、私たちと同じように社会生活を営む動物であるかが分かります。
かれらのクルミサイズの小さな脳の中で、鶏たちは私たちが想像するよりはるかにたくさんのことを考え、生きる喜びを味わったり苦しんだりしています。
自然な鶏の生活を知っていますか？鶏はとても勇敢で賢く、コミュニティを形成しながら生活する動物です。鶏は仲間を認識し、顔の特徴を見分けます。

産まれたヒヨコは母親のそばにいたいという欲求がとても強いので、一羽だけになったときには猛烈な勢いでピヨピヨと鳴きます。子どもたちは自分でねぐらを作れるようになるまで、母親と一緒に寝ます。オスの鶏は、見張り役を担っており、捕食者が来た場合にはどこから来たのかなどの警告音を鳴らして仲間を守ります。
母親は子どもと離れた場所にいても、子供に捕食者が迫ってくれば子供を守り、ワシやキツネを撃退することも有ります。
砂浴びが大好きで、片方の羽を広げ、砂を浴びます。そうすることで羽を清潔に保ち、ダニなどの寄生虫を落とします。鶏のクチバシは、人間で言えば手のような存在です。なにをするにもクチバシが役に立ちます。餌を探し食べるのにも、水を飲むためにも必要です。周囲を探索するためにも使います。鶏は1日に1万回から1万5千回、地面や草をつつき、探索をしたり餌を探して過ごします。
犬、チンパンジー、ゾウ、イルカ、さらに人間のような他の高度に知能のある種と同等だという様々な研究報告がなされています。
鶏は霊長類と同等のコミュニケーション能力を持っています。
意思決定をするとき、鶏はそれ自身の以前の経験と状況を取り巻く知識を考慮に入れます。
2017年1月2日、科学雑誌Animal Cognitionに掲載された神経科学者のLori Marinoによる論文（Thinking chickens: a review of cognition, emotion, and behavior in the domestic chicken）では、鶏の持つ高い知覚・認知能力が明らかにされています。
鶏は数と基本的な算術を理解している。鶏は考え、論理的推理をする能力を持っている。例えば、彼らは演繹という単純な形式の能力があり、これは人間が約7歳で発達する能力である。
鶏は時間間隔を知覚し、将来の出来事を予測できるように見える。鶏は人間に似た複雑な方法で社会的スキルとルールを学び、行動的に洗練されている。
鶏は複雑で否定的・肯定的な感情を持ち、シンプルな形式の同情心を持つ証拠が示されている。鶏はすべての動物と同じく、それぞれ個性が異なり、認知的、感情的、行動的に、各々が複雑な個である。

今回はTCに重要な影響を与えるRSU Refresherについて。
具体的には、1) Refresherとは何か、 2) TCにどういう影響を与えるか、3) 各企業でRefresherはどれぐらい配布されるか、について取り上げる。
上場企業で働きはじめれば1)と2)はすぐに分かる。しかし、数年働いた後も3)をまったく把握せずに転職活動をし不利なオファーを受ける人がいる。
一つの理由としては、オファーレターにはこの辺りの事情がほとんど何も書かれないからだ。交渉時に質問しても、あなたの成果に応じて、と全く具体的でない返答が来るのみだろう。
多くの働き始めの技術者はこう考える: まだよく分からないけれど、問いただすのもがめつい気がするし、報酬が成果に依るのは当たり前だ、自分が頑張って成果を出せばいいだけなんだからただ職務に励もう、と。
それ自体は間違っていない。特にL3/L4の段階であれば、TCへの影響はそれほどではない。技術者として実力をつけ、早く上のランクに上がっていくことのほうが大事である。しかし、L5/L6の段階に入り、転職活動をしていく時までには大体の事情を把握していてほしい。
というわけで今回はL5の技術者でCase Studyをしよう。levels.fyiによればGoogle L5の平均値は

TCとしては$350k。そろそろ家の購入に踏み切る時だ。2馬力の家庭なら悩む必要すらない。
さて、このTCのうち重要な部分を占めてきたRSUの$126k、Googleの場合vestが1 year cliffのあとに、毎月分割で各年25%入る。
では4年経ってvestが完了したらどうなるのか？もうもらえないのだろうか？そんなことは勿論なく、引き続きRSUは補充されていく。これがRefresherだ。
多くの会社ではRefresherも4 year vestである。但し1 year cliffは無いので即座にvestが開始する。
最大の違いは、Refresherはその人の成果に応じて毎年少しずつGrantされることだ。
Salaryの上下が難しい以上、RSUはシリコンバレーの企業において従業員のやる気を出させる最重要手段、目の前の人参だ。当然毎年のperformance reviewと連動され、Stock Bonusとも呼ばれる。しかも上場企業からすれば無料で畑からとれる、まさに株である。とはいえ濫用はできない。cash flow的には無料でも、vest時にdilutionを引き起こすからだ。
最初の年にRSUがRefreshされることは少ないかあっても少量である。
では、2年目以降にinitial grantの25%ずつrefresherが配布されたらどうなるだろうか？
長期的に考えれば定常状態になりTCが収束するだろう。だがその間は？単純化のため、Refresherの配布月が入社月とほぼ同じ（そのため2年目からRefresherがvestされ始める）という幸運な条件で見て行こう。

Refresherがinitial grantと被ることで2-4年目まで収入が増えているのだ。
さらに実際には、まともな成果を出せていれば昇進あるいはそのバンド内での上昇により25%以上のRefresherが毎年配布されているだろう。
このように、多くの企業ではRefresherのお陰でオファー時よりもTCが高くなることがよくある。
ランクが上がり、RSUの割合が多くなるごとにこの点は重要となり、現在のTCがオファー時のものよりも10-50%高くなるということがL5/L6では普通だ。
levels.fyiの数字を見て、おや、自分は同じランクの他の人よりも多くもらっているな、と思ったら以下の可能性を考慮しよう。
これらすべてを考慮しても自分のTCの方が高ければ、おめでとう、あなたはバンドの上の方だ。昇進は近い。
昇進に関して、Year 5の数字を見てほしい。Initial Grantが無くなったため、RSUからの収入がガクッと落ちている。
1-year cliffほど頻繁に使われる言葉ではないが、これが4-year cliff。昇進か転職か、勝負の時といえる。
成果を出し上司に恵まれていれば何もしなくても昇進と豊富なRefresherで気になるほどの収入減にはなってないだろう。
そうではない技術者の場合、ここで行動を起こす。成果を出せていないか、上司がそれをappreciateしてないか、どの道そのままでは前途はない。
さて、上の記述を読んだ人の反応は3通りに分かれると予測する。
2と3の違いが転職時に重要となってくる。かならず考慮に入れてほしい。
大手で言えばAmazonが後者に当てはまる。AmazonではRefresherがtarget TCに基づいて発行される。Realized compensationがtarget TCに「なるように」refresherの発行数を決めるのだ。株価上昇ですでにRealized compが十分に高ければ配布しない。前回紹介したXさんのような場合、refresherはinitial grantが無くなるまでまったくない。Google/FBの技術者には驚きの制度だろう。Amazonの技術者からすればその逆なのだ。
そのため、Amazonしか経験していない人、Google/FBしか経験していない人、がオファーの真の価値を見誤ることになる。
また、Amazonとは違う理由でRefresherの配布数が期待とは異なることになる企業も多い。
前述の企業の場合、Refresherの配布方式はおおよそ標準化されており、事前調査していれば大体の予測ができる。
しかし、企業によっては、極度の依怙贔屓と不平等に基づいてRefresherの配布数が決められ、末端社員には詳細が秘密にされるところもある。外部の人間がオファーの真の価値を見きわめることは難しい。内部の人間でさえ予測ができないのだから。また、そこまでいかなくても同じ会社でもRefresherが全く出ない部門と豊富に出る部門の格差はよくある。平均を見る事にほぼ意味がないのだ。
そういった企業の場合、teamblindのようなtoxic cesspool full of useless whining degeneratesで最新かつ個別の内部情報を収集しなければ何もわからない。

意識はあるものの、完全に麻痺状態で目さえも動かすことができない「閉じ込め症候群」の患者は、精神的には“外”に出られるようになるかもしれない。
2017年1月31日付けで『PLOS Biology』誌に掲載された研究で、脳波と血流を測定する装置を使用することで、4人の閉じ込め症候群の患者が質問にイエスかノーで回答し、コミュニケーションをとることに成功したと発表された。
ルー・ゲーリック病とも呼ばれる筋萎縮性側索硬化症（ALS）によって完全麻痺となった患者たちは、地理に関する質問に正しく回答したり、家族の名前を正しく確認したりしたほか、幸せであり、生きていてうれしいと答えたのだ。
この研究報告の主執筆者である、スイス・ジュネーヴの「Wyss Center for Bio and Neuroengineering」（ヴィース・バイオ神経工学センター）の神経科学者ニールス・ビルバウマーは『MIT Technology Review』誌で、好ましい反応を知らされたあと、家族たちの「安堵は計り知れないほど大きかった」と述べている。
ビルバウマーと同僚らは1999年、目の動きだけで意思疎通ができるALS患者とのコミュニケーションに、脳コンピューター・インターフェース（BCI）が役立つことを発見した。一方、ほかの研究者たちにより、まだある程度動ける閉じ込め症候群の患者の脳の血流をとらえ、それを解釈する方法も開発された。だがこの方法では、完全に動けなくなった患者の考えを読み解くことはできていなかった。
研究者たちは今回、脳内の血中酸素濃度と電気的活動の変化を測定する、近赤外分光法（NIRS）と脳波記録（EEG）の両方の機能を備えたキャップを作成した。そしてBCIを使用し、各患者に関して「イエス／ノー」で答えられる質問をして、その反応を調べた。
テストの際には、「パリはドイツの首都ですか？」「あなたの夫の名前はジョアキムですか？」といった質問が行われた。研究者たちはさらに、「あなたは腰痛がありますね」や「わたしは生きたいです」「わたしはめったに悲しくなりません」など、より回答の自由度の高い質問に移行した。
4人の患者の全員が長年にわたり完全に閉じ込め状態にあったが、そのうち3人が、自分は幸せであり、生きていることがうれしいと答えた。

思いつくのはこんなところか。
検索ワードの抜けがないかが困る。企業名を網羅するのはかなり困難だ。新しく出てきた企業や、いつのまにか畳んでいる場合がある。

何やら「アメリカの人種ヒエラルキーではアジア系は黒人より下で、黒人と白人の両方から差別されてる」などという与太が出回っているようで。
これは嘘っぱちですのでご注意ください（個々人の経験は別として、全体から言えば）。
むしろ、アジア系アメリカ人が他の人種的マイノリティ、特に黒人に対しての差別者であるとの認識すら、決して珍しいものではないのです。
※注意：この増田では基本的にアフリカ系アメリカ人のことを黒人と呼称します。
アメリカにおけるアジア系アメリカ人はその高い学歴、経済的成功から、他の人種的マイノリティより高い階層にいるとみなされています。
これは"中間層マイノリティ/Middleman minority" (Bonacich 1973)や"人種的ブルジョワジー/Racial bourgeoisie" (Matsuda 1993)といった呼び方や、"アメリカの人種的ヒエラルキーにおいて白人と黒人の間のどこかを占める、第三の存在" (Kim and Lee 2001)という評価など、古くからの認識です。

モデル・マイノリティ(ここで言う"モデル"とは"見本"のようなニュアンスです)という言葉もあります。ポジティブなステレオタイプを持つマイノリティのことで、アメリカではアジア系を指すことがほとんどです。
勤勉で、まじめで、よく働き、自立していて、etc., etc...ポジティブなステレオタイプゆえに支援の手が伸びにくかったり、ステレオタイプの押し付けが起きやすかったり(褒めてるんだからいいじゃん！的な)、ネガティブなステレオタイピングとはまた別の問題があります。
これは他のマイノリティをディスる、さらには人種間の対立を煽るのに使われる――アジア系の連中はあんなに成功しているのに、黒人はどうして貧乏なままなの？努力が足りないんじゃない？――場合があります。
一方で、このステレオタイプは就職等でプラスに働くこともあり、一筋縄ではいきません。
アジア系の中には上記の対立煽りを真に受けたり、黒人への蔑視を白人と共有する人も存在します。
アジア系アメリカ人の人種差別に関する意識は白人と近く、2008年の世論調査(***)では黒人の65%、ラテン系の55%が｢人種差別は未だ、我々の社会における重要な問題である｣と答えたのに対し、アジア系と白人でそう答えたのは33%でした。
また、｢人種差別は存在するが、もはや重要な問題ではない｣という答えは黒人で23.9%、ラテン系37.8%、アジア系50%、白人60%でした。
しかし、やはりマイノリティー、被差別者としての側面もあり、上記のステレオタイプの押し付け、落伍者への冷たい目、キャリアにおける差別("竹の天井"と呼ばれます)が存在します。
さらに、アジア系は集団内の格差が激しく、日中韓印系とそれ以外で状況は違うにもかかわらず、アジア系全体の恵まれたイメージから支援が届きづらいことがあります。
黒人たちと同様、シンプルで醜悪な人種差別にさらされることだって当然あります。
また、コロナパンデミックにおけるアジア系の人たちへの差別で、黒人が声を上げなかったとするのも間違いです。
100 Black Menという市民団体はAsian American Business Development CenterおよびHispanic Federationと共同声明でアジア系差別を批判してますし、黒人コミュニティや個々の黒人もtwitterなんかで差別を批判してます。
ただし、アジア系の人々が今まで黒人を差別していた/黒人差別に声をあげなかったという理由から、彼らのために声をあげたくないという黒人もいます。
例えば、黒人コメディアンのGodfrey氏はinstagramに投稿した動画で｢エボラのパンデミックの時、君らはどこにいた？我々が警察に殴られているときには？｣と述べ、｢君たちのスーパーヒーローにはなれないよ。他にやること(無数の差別への対処)がいっぱいあるんでね｣と答えています。
※トランプの"中国ウィルス"呼びを肯定していたり、中国人の食生活や、パンデミックに対する中国の責任、中国から入ってくる安い商品等への批判もしているため、単なる反中国論かもしれませんが。
アジア系アメリカ人とBlack lives matter (以下BLM)の関係もまた歴史的に複雑な背景を持ちます。
BLMが使われだすずっと前ですが、ロス暴動の前日譚として黒人と韓国系アメリカ人の間の緊張状態および、韓国系アメリカ人による黒人少女Latasha Harlinsの射殺事件がありました。
2014年の黒人射殺事件は中国系アメリカ人警官によってなされました。新人警官のPeter Liangが同僚とパトロール中、ガールフレンドとデート中のAkai Gurleyと暗がりで鉢合わせ、つい射殺(直撃ではなく跳弾)してしまったのです。
Liangは過失致死で有罪判決を受け、それに執行猶予5年がつきました。
この事件は中国系アメリカ人と黒人の両方から批判を浴びました。
中国系アメリカ人側は｢白人なら起訴されないのに中国系ならされるのか｣と起訴の取り下げを要求し、黒人側はBLMを掲げて射殺に抗議しました。
ジョージ・フロイドの死に関しても、関わった4人の警官のうち一人はアジア系アメリカ人のTou Thaoです。
アジア系アメリカ人団体Asian American CommissionはBLMへの連携を表明した上で、その声明文中にて｢アジア系コミュニティにおけるアンチ黒人の深い根｣の存在をあげ、コミュニティの変革を求めました。
※｢(アジア系は)差別されてきたが、同時にモデルマイノリティ神話等から利益を得てもいる｣等の意見も声明文には含まれていることもあり、一部のアジア系アメリカ人はこの声明に反発しています。
勘違いしないでほしいのは私が｢黒人がアジア系を差別している｣へのカウンターとしてその逆を言っているわけではないということです。
黒人差別に声を上げるアジア系、アジア系差別に声を上げる黒人、当然のようにいます。黒人のレイシスト、アジア系のレイシスト、当然います。白人、ヒスパニック、その他マイノリティも同様です。
世界は複雑なのです。立場や属性でひとくくりにできるような単純なものではありません。
PS4の『The Last of Us 2』が事前のメタスコア大絶賛一色とは一転していざ発売されると前作ユーザーから賛否両論となりユーザースコアが激低で結果的に主要サイトの中でほぼ唯一批判的に評価していた日本のIGN Japanのレビューが海外ユーザーから再評価される怪現象が起きている。
2020年6月19日に発売されたPS4用ゲーム『The Last of Us Part II』。日本では「ラスアス2」、海外では「TLOU2」と略されることが多い。ソニー・インタラクティブエンタテインメント (SIE) のファーストパーティー（傘下スタジオ）であるノーティドッグ (Naughty Dog) が開発を担当し、SIEより発売された。アメリカのヴァージニア州に本拠地を置くノーティドッグは、『クラッシュバンディクー』シリーズや『ジャック×ダクスター』シリーズ、そして近年では『アンチャーテッド』シリーズによって知られている開発会社であり、2001年よりSIEの傘下スタジオとなっている。
前作『The Last of Us』は2013年にPS3で発売され、2014年にはPS4でリマスター版が発売された。PS3版とPS4版を合わせると現在までに約2000万本以上を売り上げている。メタスコアでは95点を獲得し、数え切れないほどのメディアによって表彰された（ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_accolades_received_by_The_Last_of_Us ）。
ゲームのジャンルとしては三人称視点のアクションアドベンチャーであり、サバイバル、ホラー、ステルス、シューターといった要素を含む。プレイヤーは成人男性のジョエルと少女のエリーを操作し、ゾンビがはびこる終末的世界を生き延びるために冒険を繰り広げる。オープンワールドではなくリニア（一本道）ではあるが、開発チームが「ワイドリニア」と呼ぶ自由度の高いリニアな空間は、開発者の企図した凝ったゲーム体験とプレイヤーの自由な探索という相反するゲーム性をバランス良く両立させるものである。
Metacritic（メタクリティック）というレビュー収集サイトによって、主要ゲームサイトのゲームレビューの点数を収集、平均したもの、それが「メタスコア」であり、それとは別にユーザーが投稿した点数を平均したものが「ユーザースコア」である。
Metacriticは1999年に映画レビューサイトとして始まり、その後サイトの評価収集対象にビデオゲームを加えた。メタスコアは現在では世界で最も重要視されるゲームの評価基準のひとつとなっている。単純にいえば、あるゲームに100点をつけたレビューサイトと60点をつけたレビューサイトがあれば、それらを平均した80点がそのゲームのメタスコアとなる（実際にはメディアごとに重要度というものが設定されており、その重み付けを反映してスコアが計算されるため、もう少しややこしい）。
『The Last of Us Part II』は世界各国のメディアによるレビューで絶賛され、2020年6月20日10時（JST）時点では94件のレビューを平均して95点という非常な高評価を受けた。過半数を越える実に50件ものレビューが同作に100点満点を与えている。
このメタスコアは2020年に発売されたゲームのなかで最高評価であり、その下には同じく95点の『ペルソナ5 ザ・ロイヤル』、93点の『Half-Life: Alyx』、91点の『あつまれ どうぶつの森』などが続く。なお日本のユーザーに馴染みが深いタイトルで言うと、『ファイナルファンタジーVII リメイク』は87点、『仁王2』は85点、『バイオハザード RE:3』は84点である。（ https://www.metacritic.com/browse/games/score/metascore/year/all/filtered ）

しかしその中にあって、日本のIGN Japanは10点満点で7点とやや厳しめの点数をつけている（ 過去との決別で残された物語『The Last of Us Part II』レビュー https://jp.ign.com/the-last-of-us-2/44388/review/the-last-of-us-part-ii ）。レビュアーの福山幸司は前作が「ビデオゲーム史上に残る、マスターピースであることが疑いようがない」とした上で、「残念ながら『The Last of Us Part II』は、前作を超えるどころか、共に並び立つことすら許されないほど、いびつな出来栄えとなってしまった。」と評した。福山が同作に批判的な評価を下している原因は、主にそのストーリー面についてのものだ。Metacriticに収集された94件のレビューのうち、ラスアス2にIGN Japanと同程度またはそれ以下の評価を与えているメディアは、ほかにGAMINGbibleとGame Revolutionだけである。
IGN Japanは6月13日に福山によるレビューを発表し、さらにその翌日には同編集部のクラベ・エスラによる同作のレビューをめぐる分析記事が掲載された（ 世界各国のメディアが『The Last of Us Part II』を大絶賛！ IGN JAPANの評価が激しく異なる理由を紐解く https://jp.ign.com/the-last-of-us-2/44460/news/the-last-of-us-part-ii-ign-japan ）。相反する評価を受けるビッグタイトルは時々あるが、それを分析した記事が投稿されるのは頻繁にあることではなく、それだけラスアス2が注目を集めるタイトルであること、IGN Japanのレビューが異色であったことを示していると言えるだろう。
2020年6月19日にいざゲームが発売されると、ユーザーからはたちまち賛否両論が巻き起こった。議論の的となるのはやはり主にストーリー面についてであり、前作のファンからの批判が多くを占めた。Metacriticのユーザーレビューは、2020年6月20日10時（JST）時点では17984件のレビューを平均して3.3という酷評としか言いようのないスコアになっている。
そして、このような酷評を与えられるにつれ、IGN Japanのレビューが再評価されつつある。興味深いのは、海外のゲーマーの多くが（日本のゲーマーが『ファミ通』のクロスレビューに対して揶揄するのと同様に）多くのメディアの絶賛レビューはメーカーから受け取った金銭によって操作されており信用に値しないと信じ込んでいる点だろう。以下、ツイッターでひっかかった意見の一部。

Whooo boy, friend is pissed off at TLOU2, he says it's a PoS because the fucked the story so hard. IGN Japan was right. Gameplay and graphics are great, but the story is complete ass. He told me about the story and ending, and I have to agree. It's basically a big FU to TLOU1

The Last Of Us Part IIを5時間程度プレイしてみたが、IGN Japanのレビューで言いたいことが序盤をプレイしただけで、非常によく伝わってきた。7/10という点数になるかはともかく、賛否両論になるのがほぼ確実なゲーム。クリア時に今の感想を塗りつぶすほどの展開になっていると嬉しいな。

I’m only 3 hours in, but the IGN Japan review of game resonates the most so far. They basically said it’s a good game, but not 10/10. The gameplay is virtually identical to the original, which is 7 years old.

The App is a utility program designed to enhance your device experience. The App allows to scan any types of document to high quality PDF or JPEG; to save and store any scan copies of documents on your mobile devices; to share your scans via email; upload scanned documents to cloud services like box, Evernote or Google Drive (see the full performance list on the App’s page on itunes.apple.com). All documents shall be stored locally on your device and shall never be sent to any third-party unless you export them to other apps or devices by means of the App.
The App is intended only for your personal non-commercial use. You shall use the App only for the purposes, mentioned above.
V. PRIVACY POLICY
Your privacy is very important to us. Accordingly, we have developed the Privacy Policy in order for you to understand how we process, use and store information including personal data. The App is available for downloading and installing on handheld compatible mobile devices running Apple iOS Operating System 11.0 with minimum system requirements.
We do not warrant that the App will be compatible with all hardware and software which you may use.

インフルエンザ感染の予防について、マスクの着用と手洗いによる予防効果に関するランダム化比較対象試験を行った報告があります5）。米国の学生寮にいる1437名の学生を対象に、マスク着用群、マスク着用＋手指衛生群、コントロール群に分け、6週間にわたり試験が行われました。参加者全員に対し適切な手指衛生方法と咳エチケットに関する基礎的な教育が行われ、加えてマスク着用群には適切なマスク着用に関する資料が提供されました。また、マスク着用＋手指衛生群には適切な手指衛生とマスク着用に関する資料が提供され、さらに調査期間中はアルコール系手指消毒薬が支給され手指衛生に使用しました。結果として、マスク着用＋手指衛生群がコントロール群より有意にインフルエンザ様症状の発生率を低下させ、マスク着用と手指衛生の両方の実施が効果的であったと報告されています。
また、インフルエンザの家庭内感染について、香港の家庭を対象に、手指衛生群（マスク着用なし）、サージカルマスク着用＋手指衛生群、コントロール群で比較を行った報告があります6）。まず参加者全員に対して健康的な食事と生活習慣の重要性について教育が行われました。手指衛生群、サージカルマスク着用＋手指衛生群に対しては、患者を含むすべての家族に対して伝播を減らすための適切な手指衛生の潜在的効果について教育し、洗面所へ行った後やくしゃみや咳をした後、手が汚れた場合に、通常使用している石けんの代わりに提供した液体せっけんを使用するよう指導しました。また、家へ帰った時や汚染された場所を触った後はすぐにアルコール手指消毒薬を使用することも指導しました。サージカルマスク着用＋手指衛生群に対しては、患者とすべての家族に対し、全員がマスクを着用すれば家族間接触での伝播が減少する潜在的効果について教育し、7日間、食事や就寝時を除き家庭内でできるだけマスクを着用するようにし、また、患者が家庭外で家族といるときも着用するよう依頼しました。調査の結果、マスク着用の有無に関わらず、手指衛生はインフルエンザの家庭内感染を減らす傾向が見られたものの、コントロール群と比べ有意差は見られませんでした。サージカルマスク着用＋手指衛生群では最初の患者の発症後36時間以内に実施された場合には、コントロール群と比較して家庭内感染の有意な低下がみられたと報告されています。
手指衛生やマスク着用に関する報告を総合して検討すると、感染予防には手指衛生のみやマスク着用のみなど単独の方法ではなく、手指衛生にマスク着用などを追加することによる複合的な感染予防がより有効であると考えられています7）8）9）。
