Still, by agreeing to participate in any fundraising activity where Epstein was present, I helped to repair his reputation and perpetuate injustice. For this, I am deeply regretful.

I had known of Joi’s contact with Epstein since about the beginning. He had reached out to me to discuss it. We are friends (Joi and I), and he knew I would be upset by his working with a pedophile.

Joi sought the gifts for general research purposes, such as supporting lab scientists and buying equipment. Because the members of my team involved believed it was important that Epstein not use gifts to MIT for publicity or to enhance his own reputation, they asked Joi to agree to make clear to Epstein that he could not put his name on them publicly. These guidelines were provided to and apparently followed by the Media Lab.

■デレステでヘレンの更新が途絶えて2年が経った

2019年6月11日。デレステの恒常ガチャ更新で若林さんがSSRに昇格、ポンポンが可愛らしいチアガール衣装をお披露目した。

そしてこの日の更新で、担当アイドル「ヘレン」のカード実装間隔が2年を超えることが確定した。

ここまでひどい仕打ちをするなら、しんげきでサプボでも付くのだろうとウキウキでテレビを見る。当然そんなものはない。

さて、ここはてな匿名ダイアリーではデレステに関するお気持ち表明が流行っているらしいので、私も勢いでお気持ちを綴りたいと思う。

ヘレン。世界レベルのアイドル。

彼女は営業コミュやらアニメしんげきやらで声無しとしては破格の待遇を頂いているため、カードが実装されないくらいでちょうどバランスが取れているとの気持ちでいた。

いたのだが、他のアイドルにはどんどんSRやSSRが実装される。

同郷の声無しアイドルの皆様にも、次々とSRやSSRが実装される。

諸般の事情で追加雇用された新人アイドルの皆様にも、着々とSRが実装される。場合によってはSSRである。

気が付けばデレステのカード枚数がヘレンより少ないのはデスヤムンゴの3名のみ、彼女らもモバマスでの先行実装やら選挙実績などを考えると抜かれるのはほぼ時間の問題である。

幸いにして、現在実装されているヘレンSRの特技はCOMBOボーナスなので、しっかりと育成を行えばイベントを走る程度には何の問題もない性能ではある。

ただこの唯一のSRはイベントSRであり、LIVEPARTYをガン走りするかアタポンを25000まで走りでもしない限り、新規Pの目に留まることはないだろう。

そう、もう4周年も近いというのにヘレンには恒常カードがないのである。

正確に言うとNはあるが、SR以上の恒常がないのである。1枚も。

サイゲ運営には早く恒常SSRなりSRなりを実装しろと時節の要望を送っているが、どうにも反応が鈍い。

というか、営業コミュやらの追加でカードを追加した気になっている印象さえ受ける。

頂いたご意見は開発チームと共有させて頂いてるんじゃなかったのか。ちゃんと本文を読んでいるのか。カードを実装しろって言ってるんだ。

（コミュ自体はとても質が良いので、ライター様には多大なる感謝を捧げたい）

何が The time has comeだ。時なんか来てないじゃないか。

もうコピペSSRでいいから、コンセでもいいから新規カードを実装してほしい。

ここまで待たされてSRはちょっと（かなり）嫌だが、スシローの新規書下ろしならまあ許すから。

もう何でもいいから早く実装してほしい。いいかげん担当の晴れ姿を見せてくれ。

一応訳しておくと、

結婚とは長い会話である。結婚するとき、「あなたはこの女と年を取るまで会話を楽しめると思えるだろうか？」と自問しないといけない。結婚のほとんどのことは一時的なものだけれど、一緒にいる時間はほぼ会話に費やすことになる。

子育てをすると話ができるってのがどれだけ大事かと思い知らされる。

生まれたばかりの子供はただ泣くだけ、こっちが予想して動いてあげないといけない。でも、要求も複雑じゃないから、無機物の分類の問題みたいなフローチャートができれば、あとはそれに従って判断すればよいだけ。

年齢が上がって世界が広がると、要求の種類も広がり、フローチャートで対応できる範囲を超える。

それがいわゆるイヤイヤ期だと思う。

外部に対する知覚や認識の弱さと語彙力不足、文章構成力不足が相まって、気持ちがあるのに全く通じないみたいな状態。

イヤイヤ期が終わるのって語彙力とか文章構成力が伸びてきて、それなりに意思疎通ができるようになった状態。

ここまでやると、話し合いの大事さってわかってくる。

察して動けるのは相手の要求が単純だった時までで、相手の要求を理解するには話を聞かないといけないということ。

そして、相手に要求するのにも、相手のわかる言葉で話をしないといけないということ。

どうにもならないこともあるけれど、少なくとも相手が何を考えているのかがわかるだけでも違うよね。

学校に行きたくないも牛歩戦術されるより話をしてくれたほうが、原因を追究して対応できるかもしれないしさ。

世界幸福度調査2019が今年も発表された、日本は昨年より4位順位を下げて58位だった

で、これを扱った記事だけど

日本の幸福度、過去最低の５８位　「寛容さ」足引っ張る
日本は健康寿命で２位、１人当たりＧＤＰで２４位となったものの、人生の選択の自由度（６４位）、寛容さ（９２位）が足を引っ張ったとみられる。経済協力開発機構（ＯＥＣＤ）加盟国３６カ国で見ても、３２位と低迷した。

「世界幸福度ランキング」2019年版が発表。日本の順位はどうなった？
各国の国民に「どれくらい幸せと感じているか」を評価してもらった調査に加えて、GDP、平均余命、寛大さ、社会的支援、自由度、腐敗度といった要素を元に幸福度を計る。

つまり幸福度って言う数値は「計測値を積み上げてできた数値」ではなく元々「幸せと感じているかを計測した数値」なの。

で、日本の傾向ははっきりわかる6項目で幸せかどうかが他の国よりわかり易くて、それ以外の「幸せだと思う気持ちの要素」が寄与していないと、ちなみにこの数値だけ抜くと26位までジャンプアップします。

つまりはっきりと分かる6項目以外の部分で幸せと感じられていないということで研究として深掘りしないと「なんでかようわからん」ということになるわけ。

日本人は冷たいから幸せじゃない、とかお互いにギスギスしてるから幸せじゃないとか言いたいだけだろ？

ブクマカがこの辺ナイーブなのはまあ仕方ないとして、曲がりなりにもプロの売文屋がこんなしょうもない間違いしてんじゃねーよと。

■北海道は日本の「植民地」だったの？

歴史は大の苦手で全然勉強しなかったんだけど、大人になって海外に行く機会が増えたのを機にちょっとずつ日本＆世界史を学びなおすようにしている。

そんな中「北海道がcolonizationを経ていかに日本の一部となったか」という記事（英語）をredditで見つけて「？？？」となった。

植民地っていうとイギリス－インド、スペイン－メキシコのように、ある国が遠隔地を支配するっていうイメージ。

日本と北海道の関係は隣り合った民族同士が戦った結果、アイヌ民族が負け日本に吸収されて一つの国になった→それってだいたいどこの国でも、国が生まれ発展する中で起こることじゃないの？？ある国が異民族を打ち負かして吸収し、大きな一つの国になるという過程は「植民地化」なの？

と思いつつ、記事中でされているアメリカとの比較だとたしかに共通点がある（交易目的で流入してきた移住者と原住民が交易を通してお互いに頼りあっていたが、徐々に移住者が原住民を圧迫・迫害）。

■一緒に住んでるのに日曜日しか子どもに会えない

同級生が朝早くから夜遅くまで働いて、疲れ果てて土曜はずっと寝てて

子どもと顔を合わせるのは日曜日だけ、という話を聞くとき

今日の日本で全人格的労働を求められることが広く知られている中で

Are you all ready to make a ruckus?

Are you all ready to fight for our rights?

Are you all ready to say that in the United States of America everyone is loved, everyone deserves justice, and everyone deserves equal protection and prosperity in our country.

It is such an honor to be here, and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that we’re gathering here today, the weekend before Martin Luther King Day.

Because I believe this moment and where we are right now is a resurgence from where the civil rights movement left off.

And we are here to carry the torch forward.

Because when we talked about racial and economic justice, racial and social justice, we started to really extend those issues to the issues of economic justice, environmental justice, and the intersectionality and interconnectedness of all our fights.

Justice is not a concept we read about in a book.

Justice is about the water we drink, justice is about the air we breathe.

Justice is about how easy it is to vote.

Justice is about how much ladies get paid.

Justice is about if we can stay with our children after we have them for a just amount of time – mothers, fathers, and all parents.

Justice is about making sure that being polite is not the same thing as being quiet.

In fact, oftentimes the most righteous thing you can do is shake the table.

Last year we took the power to the polls.

And this year, we’re taking power to the policy, because we have taken back the House of Representatives.

And that’s just step one.

This year we’re gonna organize.

This year we’re gonna fight for voting rights.

This year we’re gonna keep pushing, because 2020, we took – in 2018 we took the House of Representatives, and through 2020, we’re gonna take the White House and Senate, too.

That’s what we’re gonna do because we need to advance and fight for an America where all people are welcome and no people are left behind.

And I know that while this year has been historic, there’s a lot more congresswomen left here in this audience right now.

There’s a lot more city councilwomen.

There’s a lot more workers that will be building businesses.

There’s a lot more – and I know that there’s a future president out here, too.

Let us remember that a fight means no person left behind.

So when people want to stop talking about the issues

that Black women face,

when people want to stop talking about the issues

that trans women or immigrant women face,

we gotta ask them, why does that make you so uncomfortable?

Because now, this is the time that we’re gonna address poverty.

This is the time we’re gonna address Flint.

This is the time we’re gonna talk about Baltimore & the Bronx, and wildfires, and Puerto Rico.

Because this is not just about identity, this is about justice.

And this is about the America that we are going to bring into this world.

■ブルーノ・マーズのライブに行かなかったことを私は酷く後悔している

先日行われた、日本では実に４年ぶりのブルーノ・マーズのコンサート

「BRUNO MARS 24K MAGIC WORLD TOUR 2018」。

なぜ私は行かなかったのだろうか。今、激しく後悔している。

その後悔の大きさは、私に初めての匿名ダイアリーを書かせるほどである。

とはいえ、私がブルーノ・マーズにハマりはじめたのは実に4ヶ月前。

いや、遅すぎるわ、そりゃ行けんわ、自分・・・・

しょうがない、とはいえ、心が落ち着かないのは、

この「24K Magic」というアルバムが、いや、まあ、凄すぎるからである。

少ない語彙力で申し訳ないが、そりゃグラミーもかっさらうよ。

私はもともとマイケルジャクソンが凄く好きで、

（歳は30手前なので、全盛期からは外れているのだけど）

マイケルの存在は唯一無二とはいえども、

「キング・オブ・ポップ」的な何かを、誰かに託してみたいと願っていた。

でもさー、なかなかそんなのいないよね。

「Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough」で最初に魅せた、比類なきリズム感。

「Thriller」や「Beat It」、「Bad」での、高い演出構成力に耐えうるリズム＆ビジュアル＆ダンススキル。

ダンスミュージック歌わせて踊らせたらもう女子はみんなメロメロだし（例えば「The Way You Make Me Feel」）、

正統派なポップで完全に世界を掌握するし（例えば「Black or White」。個人的には「Remember The Time」が好き）。

「You Rock My World」なんて、亡くなる数年前の曲だけど、

それまでで一番じゃないかってくらい名曲中の名曲で全然色あせないよ？

私が思う「キング・オブ・ポップ」は、

リズム、歌唱力、ダンス、ビジュアル、それらに支えられたカリスマ性、

それらが時代に合わせて常に変化しながらも、トータルに持ち続けられる存在だということ。

あー、うん、いるいる。そういう人、男性も女性もいっぱいいる。

でも現代で、元々マイケルを指した「キング・オブ・ポップ」を、

マイケル好きから真に後継者として認められる人は、多分まだいないんじゃないかな。

そこで私は「いや、ブルーノ・マーズこそ現代のキング・オブ・ポップ（になりうる存在）でしょ！」と声高らかに吠えたい。

「24K Magic」で一番凄いのは、それまでの彼の曲に比べて大きな振れ幅を持っている点である。

正直「Just The Way You Are」や「Marry You」のイメージからは、アルバムを通して全然異なっているのである。

9曲通して、リズムの変化球がすごい。そして、全体的に懐かしい。

敢えて「マイケルの再来」を予感させるような曲作りをしたとしか思えないが、

そのなかで、ブルーノ・マーズの歌唱力、そしてそれを支える米国プロチームによって、

そのまま比類なきクオリティのものに仕上がっている。

懐かしいのに新しい時代を感じさせる、これはつまりどーいうことよ？？？である。まさにMagic。

楽曲のクオリティの高さはもちろん、正直その変化の振れ幅に驚いた。

そして今後のブルーノ・マーズにワクワクさせられた。

今後、どこまで変化してどんなふうにワクワクさせてくれるんだろう、と。

その振れ幅の大きさ、完成度の高さは、現代の「キング・オブ・ポップ」にふさわしいと思う。

ブルーノ・マーズは、かつてのマイケルのように、

舞台に登場して首の位置、手の位置を変えるだけで悲鳴が上がる存在ではないかもしれないが、

各個人が自分の好みに合わせて優れた音楽を方々から集めることのできる現代、

そういう金字塔的な「崇高さ」を持つか否かで判断するのは、

時代が違うわけで。

まあ、結局言いたいことは、

そういう「私的現代のキング・オブ・ポップ」の東京ツアーを逃す、ということは

今後もっともっとチャンスがなくなるだろうな・・・と。

次行けたとしても、「24K Magic」の曲はそんなにやってくれないだろうし・・・

と、未だにごねているのである。

あーーー。生で「That's What I Like」と「Finesse」聴きたかったよ。なんだよ、もう。

最後に、自明のことをさも私が考えたように書いて、ごめん。深夜は悪魔の時間。もう寝よう。

ネットに原著があったので読んでみた。

この本には、ナイチンゲールが斧を持って薬箱を叩き割ったという逸話は記載されていない。

シャツ等の物資の入った政府貨物を強制的に空けたという話も「一般に広く流布している」ものの「確証はない」となっている。

ただ一方で”I think that Miss Nightingale was quite capable of the dreadful deed." (ナイチンゲール女史は荒事に非常に長けていたはずだと思う）とも言っている。
