先日遊んだキラークイーンの続編、ちゃんと繋がってるのでそちらを遊んでからの方が面白いやつ。
(こういうの正直に言って欲しいよね、前にEVE GEをコレからでも遊べるって書いてるレビュー読んで、幾ら商業レビューでお決まりの文句とはいえ限度というものがあるだろって思った)
ゲームシステムは似たようなというか、特にシステムはない読むだけのやつ。
前作と同じ世界観で同じ黒幕が行っていた別のデスゲームの物語。
一人増えて14人の登場人物がそれぞれ異なるクリア条件を満たすために殺し合いのゲームが展開していく。
前作とルールは結構違っていて、特徴的なのはデスゲームものながらクリア条件が平和でオリエンテーリング的なノリなところ。
舞台が開放的な山奥の廃村なのも、そんな雰囲気を出しているけど、勿論あのゲスな黒幕がそのままで終わるわけもない。
タイトルになっている2ndStageは続編の2という意味以外にも、この作品自体の意味もある展開が待っている。
四つのシナリオがあるが、登場人物やクリア条件は全て同等で、主人公が出会うヒロインによって話が分岐していく。あるルートでは恋仲になる二人が、別のルートでは戦うことになったりする、読者しか知らない関係性の妙が面白い構成は前作を踏襲している。
ルールの穴をつく展開や、疑心暗鬼の恐ろしさ、キャラの生き死ににまつわるハラハラする描写など、デスゲームらしさがちゃんとしていて、ジャンル自体の楽しみがいっぱい詰まっている。
前作とは違い、キャラクタの戦闘能力が武器よりも、個人の能力(特殊な意味じゃなく筋力とか技術の意味ね)に依存しているシーンが多いのは賛否がありそうかな。
特に主人公とルートヒロインの生死もマチマチなため、常に緊張感を持ちながら読めたのは良かった。
デスゲームは初期設定をちゃんと最後までやるだけで面白い構成だと思っているので、この点で満足できた。
そしてなんといっても魅力的なキャラクタ達が見所。
好きになったキャラがいっぱいいるので一人ずつ紹介したい。
まず全体を通じて超重要な立ち位置でタイトルの意味を強く内包した藤堂悠奈。
彼女の誰も死なせないという目標と「理不尽に屈しない者」「理不尽に曝されている者を救う事」という心情が全員の意識を変えて行くことになる。
美少女ゲームに登場する女性ながら、彼女の心情的に絶対に男性とくっ付かないと言い切れる程芯の通ったキャラだ。(いや全年齢移植で遊んでるから原作では普通にあったら申し訳ないが)
戦闘面の強さは上の中か、上の下で最上位の面々には敵わない感じながら、精神面での恐ろしいほどの強さが凄まじいキャラ。
どんな状況でも目標と心情が一切ブレないため、疑心暗鬼な状況でも、ものすごく安心できた。
彼女が自称するヒーローという役目を常に全うした、今作の真の主人公だった。
次に典型的なチンピラで暴力に躊躇がないことが取り柄の黒河正規。
ところが暴力の強さでは上には上がいるし、倫理観の無さでも上には上がいるしで、かませ犬ポジション……
かと思いきや、これまた真の主人公(感想で言いたくなるフレーズなあまり二人目だ)。
粗暴なキャラが色々なキャラとの交流で変わっていく展開が多く、成長率が凄まじい。
特にルートBでは大活躍しラストの一枚絵はかなり格好良く激るシーンだった。
見た目は怖いが芯は優しいのは創作の類例なのだけど、4ルートを通じてよく伝わってくる多層的なキャラの有り様が好きになった。
それから、暴力最強格の二人、剣術使いのロリな蒔岡玲と、チェーンソーでメイドの粕谷瞳。
女性キャラが体躯に似合わない大きな武器を振り回すのイイよねって言うのもあるけど、超常的な設定は無い物語にしては異能じみた戦闘能力なのが格好いいし頼れる。
二人とも獲物が近接武器なのに当たり前みたいに拳銃と戦えるのは、若干リアリティラインが気になりはした。
倫理観の無さも大概なので、敵に回るとおそろしく、味方だと頼り甲斐があるので、緊張の緩急に毎回使われてたのが印象的。
二人とも自分の意思での戦いより暴力装置として使われる機会が多く、エピソード毎に付き従う相手が違うことで生まれる人間関係の妙が面白い。
そして最後の最後で全部を持って行ったとも言うべき上野まり子。
というデスゲームものでは真っ先に悲惨なことになる立場だけあって色々と大変。
カップリング相手になるボクサーの真島章則との関係性も助けられて、献身的な態度に絆されてなど、ベタをやってるなあと、好きでも嫌いでもない地味な印象のキャラだった。
ところが、最後の最後のオーラスで、この作品の所謂「タイトル回収」の役という大任を果たすことになる。
重かった。
このリベリオンズという物語を最初から最後の手前まで引っ張った悠奈のバトンを受け継いで、ゴールテープを切るラストランナーが、まり子だ。
僕が脳内で開催していた好きなキャラレースでも最後の瞬間に一気に最後尾から追い上げてきて、めちゃくちゃ好きなキャラになった。
他にも、常に冷静沈着でめちゃくちゃ頼りになるが一人称視点だと弱さが見えるギャップが可愛い司、黒崎のカップリング相手になる非暴力よりの使者荻原、倫理観の無さが異常な伊藤、ヘタレなモヤシ系オタクながらここぞの場面では毎回自分の命を堂々と賭け金にできる充など、良いキャラクタが沢山出てきたゲームだった。
色々なキャラを語ったけど、やっぱり最初に書いた藤堂悠奈が一番好きだ。
彼女がみんなの生き方を変えていくところが面白く、他の挙げたキャラも悠奈との関係値のシーンが印象強い。
原作が美少女ゲームなのでそうはならなかったけど、彼女がもっと主役として出っ張って百合っぽい雰囲気になるのも面白かったかもだ。
シークレットゲームシリーズとしては、本当に悠奈が主役のエピソードが追加されたPC版があるみたいなので、そちらもいつかプレイしたい。

先日友達グループでディナーに行こうという事になり、あるレストランを予約しようとしたら、友達の一人がそこは嫌だと言い出し、理由を訊ねるとそこのシェフは過去に女性に乱暴をした事があるらしい。素晴らしい料理を作るけど、そういう人の所ににお金を一切落としたくないとの事。
