先日、ゲートウェイ理論に納得できないって増田があったよね。これhttp://anond.hatelabo.jp/20161026010604
ブコメでも学術的にはどうなのよって声があったのでちょいと調べてみました。
まず薬物のゲートウェイ理論に関する最初期の論文(たぶん最初じゃないかな？)はKandel (1975)ね。
・ランダムサンプリングされたニューヨーク州の高校生における縦断的(経時的)研究
・5～6ヶ月の観察期間中、飲酒および喫煙習慣のある高校生の27%で大麻への移行が見られたのに対し、そうした習慣のない高校生のうちわずか1%でしか移行が見られなかった。
・同様に、大麻を使用する高校生のうち26%でLSD、アンフェタミンまたはヘロインへの移行が見られたのに対し、非薬物大麻(食品とか飲料に入ってるタイプ)や合法ドラッグ(酒やタバコ等)の利用者で移行が見られたのはそれぞれ1%と4%のみであった。
つまりは"酒・タバコ → 大麻 → その他違法ドラッグ"という一連の流れ("Gateway" sequence)が存在するのではないか、という話。
なかなかそれっぽくて分かりやすい結果だね。
疫学を多少かじった人が見たら「なんか交絡あるんじゃない？」って思いそうな結果でもある。
この論文、うちの大学では全文読めなかった(Scienceなのに！)ので、交絡やら何やらどこまで考慮されているのか等は分かりません。ごめんね。
さて、その後いろいろあってゲートウェイ理論は非専門家にも知られる程度の知名度を得たわけだ。
でもまあ結局のところ知りたいのは"ゲートウェイ理論はどの程度確からしいのか？"ってことよね。
"肯定的なエビデンス、どんくらいあんの？"って言い換えてもいい。
そいじゃ近年のレビュー論文――総括的な知識が欲しいならレビュー論文やメタ解析論文が便利。あと英語版Wikipediaもバカにできない――から良さそうなのを1本もってこよう。
Vanyukov et al. (2012)はゲートウェイ理論とその対立仮説であるCLA (Common Liability to Addiction: 薬物中毒に対する一般的傾向)説に関して、いろんな論文を集めて論じたものだ。
・ゲートウェイ理論の一連の流れ("Gateway" sequence)に因果関係が示されていない
・非典型的な流れは"エラー"や"例外"として除外されていることが多い
・あくまで薬物"使用"に限った説であり、薬物中毒の程度や進行については触れられない
著者らの推し論がCLAの方っぽいので多少割り引いた方がいいかも知れないが、少なくともこの論文では薬物問題に関してのゲートウェイ理論はあまり確からしくないって結論だね。
レビュー論文1本で分かった気になったら痛い目を見る(見た)。もう1本いってみよう。
Agrawal and Lynskey (2014)。
これはゲートウェイ理論と言うか、大麻とそれに関わる問題をあつかったレビュー論文だね。
大麻と他の違法ドラッグ、うつ病、自殺に関する話。何ともおだやかではない。タイトルからして"大麻論争"だし。
さっきのレビュー論文よりかは甘口だけれど、因果関係に関してはやはり不明瞭なようだ。
この手の論文はたいてい1国での調査だし、せっかくだからワイドに国際比較した論文も探してみよう。
Degenhardt et al. (2010)。これは良い。なにせ調査国に日本が入ってる上にけっこう字数も割いてくれてる。
実はさっきのレビュー論文(Vanyukov et al., 2012)でも引用されてたりする。
・"Gateway" sequenceは、因果関係ではなく"計測されていない共通の原因(unmeasured common causes)"を反映していると考えられる。
・初めての違法薬物は大麻が最も多く、飲酒喫煙から移行するのが典型的。ただし国によって大きく変わるため、あまりあてにならない。
まあ前の2つとあまり変わらないね。国ごとに特徴があってなかなか面白い論文だった。
ついでに、この論文で日本がどう扱われているかと言うと、"大麻より他の(重大な)違法ドラッグの方が多い国"、もっと言えば"ゲートウェイ理論が全然成り立たない国"。
まず大麻少ないから"飲酒喫煙→大麻"も"大麻→他の(重大な)違法ドラッグ"もほぼ成り立ってないわけ。
じゃあ"飲酒喫煙→他の違法ドラッグ"のパターンはどうかと言えば、何故かは知らんがこれもまた調査国中で最も低頻度なのだ (※)。
※ 日本で"酒もタバコもやらないけど違法ドラッグには手を出した人"の頻度は52.5%(全患者中)。初手からドラッグ。ゲートウェイなんていらんかったんや！
参考までにメキシコでの頻度は6.3%、すなわち93.7%の患者がドラッグ前に飲酒喫煙者。
以上、違法薬物におけるゲートウェイ理論について少し調べてみた結果である。
他の論文もちらほら読んでみたけれど、概ね
(1)"合法ドラッグ→軽いドラッグ→重いドラッグ"といったGateway sequence自体はよく観察される、
お役にたてば幸い。役に立たなくてもクレームは受け付けない。スターは受け付ける。

写実的で実存感に溢れる流麗な映像と共にかかるThe WHOのMy Generationに、山田尚子監督と京都アニメーションの円熟と"私（達）の時代の話をしているんだ"という監督の高らかな宣言を感じた。
単行本7巻分の原作を2時間にシェイプアップされた映像は、大胆な再構成と説明要素の排除で進行される。
原作で描かれた硝子の主観はほぼほぼ排除されている。硝子は聴覚障害があり、手話と不明瞭な言葉でしかコミュニケーションを取ることが出来ない。
それは劇中でもありのまま描かれ、我々健聴者は彼女が何を言っているのか正確に理解できない。
将也や、その他の登場人物の反応で保管できる部分はあるが、原作のように硝子の視点も用意されておらず、想像の範疇を出ない。（なんとモノローグすらない）
つまり観客は彼女に同化することを構造上許されていないのだ。（これは字幕上映を観ることで考えが変わるかもしれない）
物言えぬ硝子を介して、将也はコミュニケーションを、人の間で生きていくことを学ぶ。
しかし原作で大きく扱われていた周辺登場人物との関係（欺瞞に満ちた映画作り〜かつて失くしたコミュニケーションの復活・その崩壊・硝子による再構築）も排除されている。
将也の成長物語のみに徹底的にフォーカスした結果、将也の成長を促す硝子を含むすべての周辺登場人物へのフォーカスを切り捨てたのだ。
それでは山田尚子監督及び京都アニメーションのスタッフ陣はどのような物語の演出方法を取ったのか？
それは徹底的なリアリズムと情感を託された映像密度と、そこにあるもの以外語らない、という選択だったのだと思う。
ノイジーでインダストリアルな劇伴と静かに喋る将也と物言えぬ硝子。大きなカタルシスを用意するでもなく（物語上には存在するが、ここで挙げるのは演出上のカタルシス）、ただただ丁寧に心の機微は描く。
その役割は言語化されたコミュニケーションが大前提な劇映画では異常なほど、人物（言語）ではなく映像に委ねられている。
象徴的に繰り返し映し出される様々な花のモチーフにも、それぞれ意味があり、雄弁に語る。しかしそこに言語はない。
とても静かな映画だった。
それは聴覚障害・コミュニケーション・少年の成長、という大きな主題を映像化する上でベターな選択だったし、原作モノを再解釈して色を付ける、しかしあくまで原作の範疇から出ることはせず、映像化にあたっての最良の選択だった。
「けいおん！」で見せた山田尚子監督のバケモノ級の構成力がいままさに円熟しているのを感じずには居られなかった。
もちろんその演出を選択できる体力としての京都アニメーションのスタッフの技量があってのこの映画だったと思う。
「響け！ユーフォニアム」で到達点を見せたと思われた、写実的で被写体とキャメラの存在を追求した京都アニメーションのレイアウト〜撮影までの画作りの更なる進化があってこそ、将也の心情に寄り添った雄弁な映像は生まれたのだ。
先週観た「君の名は。」で新海誠が描いていた、印象だけで構成された陳腐で空虚でしかないセンスの欠片もない映像と退屈で死にそうなほど単純なボーイミーツガール、ポストエヴァ世代の終わりなき呪縛を今作は問題外と言わんばかりに完璧に凌駕していた。比較対象が雑魚すぎるきらいもあるが、あらゆる意味で次元が違った。
新海誠に代表されるセカイ系の次世代として2000年代後半に登場した、近景に特化した所謂空気系の旗手として君臨した「けいおん！」は物語の歴史の中でノスタルジックかつアブストラクトなエポック的作品だったが、その監督である山田尚子と京都アニメーションがさらなる次世代を紡ぐ、体制側・システムとしての完成をみたのが今作だったと思う。
オルタナティブとしての物語を自分のストーリーとして受け取る現世代のための物語装置を創りだすシステムとしての京都アニメーション。
圧倒的なクオリティと確実なチョイスで、先陣を切りそれを体現していく山田尚子。恐ろしいことに今回は萌えを武器にもしていないのだ。
派手な爆発も、世界を救う大いなる力も、悩める個人と直結したセカイも、今作の持つ超弩級の冷静さの前では旧態依然とした使い古されたアイデアでしか無かった。
それでも丁寧に丁寧に人の手で作られたアニメーションは、絵が動き、実写以上の実存感を持って我々の心に寄り添い訴えてくる。
同時代に生きられることに感謝し、最大級の賛美を持って新時代の幕開けを向かい入れたいと思った。

質問「渋谷系ってどんな音楽なの？」
回答「渋谷系とはムーヴメントであり、音楽のジャンルを示したものではない」
Wikipediaによれば、「東京・渋谷（渋谷区宇田川町界隈）を発信地として1990年代に流行した日本のポピュラー音楽（J-POP）の一部の傾向を分類化したものである」とのこと。
代表にフリッパーズギターやピチカートファイヴ、オリジナル・ラヴなど。流行は90年代後半には終息していったといわれている。
渋谷のCDショップを中心に発信された流行（ムーヴメント）を表す言葉として用いられたのが始まりらしいが具体的な起源はよくわかっていない。
ミスチルやスピッツも渋谷系として扱われたこともあったらしい。
こんなに曖昧でよくわからない渋谷系だが、本来は流行そのものを類型化したものであり、特定の音楽ジャンルを指したものではなかったという認識は間違っていないだろう。
2016年現在、「渋谷系っぽい」という感覚は一定数の人間の共通の認識として共有されているように感じられる。
しかも、渋谷系というワードを好意的に使っているのは、なぜか渋谷系ムーヴメントを経験していない20代以下の若者たちが多いようなのである。
あくまで自分の観測範囲での話だが、確実に若者にとっての「渋谷系音楽」というものが存在するのだ。
お笑いでいえば「エンタ芸人」「レッドカーペット芸人」「あらびき芸人」みたいなもので、そういった括りはお笑いのジャンルではないのだけれども、
「エンタ芸人っぽい」という感覚はなんとなくであるが存在する。
あるいはビートたけしの「ダンカンこの野郎！」のようなものかもしれない。

あるいは、なぜムーヴメントから20年経った今でも渋谷系という言葉が使われるのか。
これは個人的な考えだが、それは「渋谷系以降の音楽が渋谷系の文脈で語られ過ぎた」ことに起因していると思う。
音楽は語られることで歴史となる。
当たり前の話だが、語られなかった音楽は音楽史に残らない。
渋谷系があまりにも語り手によって評価されたために、その後の音楽にも渋谷系の文脈が用いられてしまった。
そして、「渋谷系の文脈で語られた渋谷系以降の音楽」（≒渋谷系フォロワー）が現在影響力を持つようになり、それらを語るときに、渋谷系という言葉を使わざるを得ない状態にあるのだ。
私の考えでは「渋谷系っぽい」音楽のイメージ形成に大きく影響を与えたのは、渋谷系の人物ではなく渋谷系以降の人物なのである。
さて、ここでは、広がっていった「渋谷系っぽい」という認識に対して「定義が曖昧だ」とか「間違ってるよ」といった指摘はしない。
ここでは、実際のところ若者たちはどんな音楽を「渋谷系っぽい」と思っているのかを、曖昧なワードらしく曖昧に書き連ねていく。
2012年3月、NHK-FMで「今日は一日“渋谷系”三昧」という番組が放送された。
渋谷系で10時間番組を持たすというだけでもNHKすごいなと思うのだが、この番組でのプレイリストが大変に興味深い。
フリッパーズギター、ピチカートファイヴなどの曲が多く流される中、ブームが終息した1990年代後半以降の曲もいくつか放送されている。
ROUND TABLE、Cymbals、カジヒデキ、Chocolat、Chappie、南波志帆などなど……

これらの音楽も広い意味では渋谷系と認識することができる（されている）ということなのだ。
注目したいのはカジヒデキ。
彼は「最後の渋谷系」「遅れてきた渋谷系」と評されることが多いが、彼は現在の渋谷系のイメージ形成においてかなり重要な位置を占めている。
なぜか。それは2008年の映画「デトロイト・メタル・シティ」に関わったことによるものである。
同名漫画が原作の実写映画で、渋谷系音楽を愛し、ポップミュージシャンとしてデビューするため上京した主人公が、なぜかデスメタルバンドとしてデビューし、しかもカリスマバンドとしてブレイクしてしまうというお話。
そして、映画において、主人公・根岸の歌う「甘い恋人」を作曲したのがカジヒデキなのである。
ある意味で作中における渋谷系の象徴となるこの曲は、視聴者に渋谷系のイメージを強く印象付けた（同時に公然猥褻カットも強く印象付けた）。
――「DMC」では、根岸君が思う「渋谷系＝可愛くてポップ」という、かなり表面的なイメージで描かれていますよね。
「渋谷系＝可愛くてポップ」という解釈はちょっと？ だったりしますが、実際僕の歌詞もそう言う側面を持っているし
（中略）「可愛くてポップ」は渋谷系の要素としては小さいと思うんだけど、フォローアーにはそういう人が多いことを考えると、決して間違った解釈ではないんでしょうね(笑)。
さて、最近、「渋谷系」を前面に押し出した若手バンドが2つ現れた。
ひとつが「OK?NO!!」というバンドである（2015年に既に解散している）。
全員平成生まれの渋谷系宅録ユニット、OK?NO!!によるフル・アルバム。ポップだけど、どこか骨太で、ビートで踊れてパーティな新感覚ビートポップ・グループOK?NO!!。Cymbalsの影響を多分に受け、"Beat Your Cymbal!! Life is a party!!"を声高に叫びながら遂に全国リリース!
もうひとつがPOLLYANNAだ。
最新型渋谷系ポップバンド POLLYANNA / ポリアンナ
2014年6月に結成。都内を中心に活動中。
OK?NO!!にいたってはCymbalsの影響を公言しているし、POLLYANNAも「TAKE ME WITH OVERLAND」という曲を聴けばCymbalsの影響を受けたのだろうと推測できる。
（実際に影響を受けた旨の発言もある）
Cymbalsは渋谷系ムーヴメントより後に出てきたバンドである。
しかし、Wikipediaを見てみると「ポスト渋谷系」と表記されている。
当然、彼らは渋谷系アーティストの真似事をしていたバンドではない。
あえていえばThe Whoなどのブリティッシュロックの影響が強い。
にも拘らず彼らを表すときには「ポスト渋谷系」などといった言葉がどうしても付きまとう。
それ故に彼らを知った若い世代は彼らの音楽を渋谷系音楽だと認識するのだ。
Cymbalsの初期のバンドコンセプト「かわいくっていじわる、ただしパンク」を渋谷系を表す言葉として捉えている者もいるようだ。
元Cymbalsで現TWEEDEESの沖井礼二はあるインタビューで以下の発言をしている。
TWEEDEESのライブには、高校生のお客さんも来てくれます。で、彼らが何で僕の存在を知ったかというと、ゲームミュージックだったりするんです。北川くんの場合はアニメだったかな。若い方の中には、フリッパーズ・ギターやピチカート・ファイヴではなく、CymbalsやROUND TABLEを渋谷系だと思っている人もいるみたいで。そこは自分でもよくわからない感覚です。

ゲームミュージックやアニメに触れて渋谷系を知る若者が多いようである。
Cymbalsの楽曲は「Rally」「Show Business」が版権曲として音ゲーに収録されていたし（音源は異なるが）、沖井礼二は「空への扉」「Break on Through」「Runnin' away」などの曲をpop'n musicに提供している。
音ゲーと渋谷系の関係については渋谷系のイメージ形成において重要な部分であると思うのだが、私では手に余る。

ポスト渋谷系にみる、音ゲー楽曲と邦楽シーンの影響関係（前半） - ダストポップ
さて、ここでKONAMIによるWeb連動型音楽配信企画「ひなビタ♪」について触れておこう。
キャラクターによる楽曲をバックストーリーなどを含めて提供していくメディアミックス企画で、
多数の楽曲が音ゲーに収録されている。
その中には渋谷系音楽が好きなキャラクターも存在し、公式サイトでは「アキシブ系って何？」というコラムも掲載されていた。
そこにおいて渋谷系とはどんな音楽かの説明がされているので引用する。
アキバ系とシブヤ系は音楽のジャンルなんだけど、今だとちょっと古い言葉になるかもしれないめう。
アキバ系はキャラソンやアイドル、電波ソングといったキャラクター的な見せ方をする音楽めう。
めうは、もともとこの２つの文化には共通するものがあると見てるめう。
ぼーかるの声質に対するこだわり、夢見がちで妄想好きなところ、非日常を好むことなどめう。
お互い表現手法は全く違えど、感覚的には非常に近いものを持っていると思うめう。
他に２つを結ぶものに、ゲームがあるめう。
めう調査では、シブヤ系の人もアキバ系の人もゲームが大好きめう。
チップチューンという音楽はゲームのような音でシャレオツな曲を作っていたりするめう。

そう言えばさ、めうめう。
最近のアニメの主題歌とかって、シブヤ系の人達が曲を作っているのをよく見るよね？
まりり、いいところに目をつけためうっ！
その流れは今後もっとくると、めうは見てるめうっ！
アキシブ系とは一時期アニソン界隈で一部の人が用いていた言葉で、定着したとは言い難いが、Wikipediaに記事もあるため一定の影響力は持っていると考えられる。
また、上記のコラムにおいてアニメ主題歌を渋谷系の人たちが作っているという指摘があるが、渋谷系ムーヴメントで活躍した人物がアニメ主題歌を作った例というのはそんなに多くない
（ちびまる子ちゃんOP「ハミングがきこえる」、スクールランブルED「オンナのコ♡オトコのコ」など）。
ここでいう渋谷系とは、ほとんどがポスト渋谷系、つまり渋谷系以降の人物たちのことであろう。
「きんいろモザイク」のEDでは、90年代後半にQYPTHONEというバンドでデビューした中塚武による楽曲「Your voice」、「My Best Friends」が使用されているし、
「たまこまーけっと」のOP「ドラマチックマーケットライド」では元ラヴ・タンバリンズの宮川弾が編曲で関わっている。
また、ヒャダイン（前山田健一）も渋谷系音楽を好んでおり影響を受けているとされている。
さらに、アニメ主題歌において語らずにおけないのがROUND TABLEの北川勝利である。
Ninoをボーカルに迎えたROUND TABLE featuring Ninoとして多くのアニメ主題歌を手掛け、また坂本真綾、牧野由依、中島愛、やなぎなぎへの楽曲提供など、枚挙に暇がない。

アキシブ系というワードが用いられるとき、必ずと言っていいほど北川勝利の手掛けた楽曲が挙げられる。
アニメ好きの中には北川勝利は渋谷系の中心人物であると認識している人も少なからずいる。
昨年放送されたアニメ「アイドルマスター シンデレラガールズ」はMONACAの田中秀和が音楽を手掛けているが、劇伴のテーマは「渋谷系」であったと明かされている。
最初にそういうオーダーがありました。もともと僕は「渋谷系」の音楽が好きで、90年代の渋谷系を参考にしましたが、当時の「渋谷系」は海外の古い音楽を参考にして作られていたり、Jポップに対するカウンターカルチャーのような捉え方をされていたりもしたので、そういう気持ちで作った感覚があります。
オーダーで「渋谷系」が出てくるあたり、音楽ジャンルとしての「渋谷系っぽさ」は既に確立したのかもしれない。
加えて「乙女感のあるサウンド」というディレクションもあったらしく、「渋谷系」と「乙女感」は結びつくものだという認識があるのだと捉えることができる。
以下のPVで流れるBGMを聴けば、彼なりの渋谷系の解釈が聴き取れるだろう。

少し時間が戻るが、2013年、アニメと渋谷系の繋がり、そして渋谷系イメージ形成において重要な役割をもたらしたと思われるアルバムが発売される。
総合プロデュースは北川勝利。そして参加するアーティストはカジヒデキ、沖井礼二、矢野博康、宮川弾、中塚武、ミト、神前暁、古川本舗、ドラムに宮田繁男、ギターに奥田健介など。
多くは渋谷系ムーヴメントが終息した後に出てきたアーティストである。
2nd、3rdアルバムになるにつれコンセプトは変わっていくが、この1stアルバムでは明確に渋谷系というコンセプトは存在していたようだ。
1枚目では、わりとわかりやすく「渋谷」というキーワードがあって、（後略）

花澤香菜というボーカルとの相性とその完成度から評判になり、「渋谷系ポップス」としてリスナーに受け入れられた。

ここにきて、渋谷系ムーヴメント当事者ではないアーティストによって「渋谷系っぽい」音楽が一つの到達点に達したのである。
若者にとっての渋谷系とはこのアルバムだ、と大げさに言ってもいいのかもしれない。
また、この「claire」に加え、沖井礼二や末光篤、筒美京平などが参加した竹達彩奈「apple symphony」の2つに影響を受けたアイドルプロデューサーがいる。
でも今年に入って、大きな衝撃を受けた3枚のアルバムがありまして。
──全部挙げてもらってもいいですか？
connie NONA REEVESの「POP STATION」、花澤香菜さんの「claire」、竹達彩奈さんの「apple symphony」です。
Negiccoとは新潟県を拠点とする3人組アイドルユニットで、近年ではピチカート・ファイヴの小西康陽やオリジナル・ラブの田島貴男、ノーナ・リーヴスの西寺郷太、シンバルズの矢野博康などの楽曲提供を受けており、
花澤香菜と違い、渋谷系ムーヴメント当事者の参加もあり、これこそ渋谷系の正統だとみることもできるが、時期的には花澤香菜よりワンテンポ遅れての評価になっており、ポスト渋谷系と渋谷系の順番が逆になっているように見えるのが面白い。
さらに面白いのがノーナ・リーヴスで、花澤香菜やNegiccoの楽曲にメンバーが参加した影響からか、現在では彼らも渋谷系扱いされることがあるという点だ。
世代的にはROUND TABLEやCymbalsと同じ世代であるのだが（奥田健介はCymbalsのサポートメンバー）、
ノーナはマイケル・ジャクソンやプリンスの影響が色濃く、当時は彼らを渋谷系と評する人は少なかったはずだ。
しかし現在、「渋谷系っぽい」音楽に関わりを持つことで遡及的に渋谷系の枠に入ってしまうことがある。
また、アイドルといえば、沖井礼二がかつて手掛けたさくら学院バトン部のユニット「Twinklestars」も渋谷系と評されることがある。
矢野博康もNegiccoや夢みるアドレセンスの楽曲を手掛けており、アイドルファンには彼らを渋谷系アーティストだと思っている人も少なくない。
また、Perfumeから中田ヤスタカに遡ってcapsuleを知った者は、初期のピチカート・ファイヴを彷彿させる楽曲を聴いて「これが（ネオ）渋谷系」と認識するようである。
渋谷系以降のポップスが語られる際に「渋谷系を彷彿させる」などと表現されることで渋谷系のイメージは少しずつ形成されていった。
当時の渋谷系ムーヴメントにいたアーティストではなく、渋谷系の文脈で語られた音楽によってイメージが形成されたのである。

さて、ここまでとりとめもなく「渋谷系っぽい」音楽を追ってきたが、こういった曖昧な認識は今後も広がっていくのだろうか。
それは、アニメやアイドル、ゲームなどを通して渋谷系の種が既に播かれてしまったからである。
「渋谷系っぽい」音楽に触れた若者はその音楽を渋谷系であると認識する。その流れは、渋谷系に代わる便利なワードが出て来ない限りは続くのではなかろうか。
例として「アイカツ！」を挙げておこう。
「アイカツ！」とは女児向けアーケードゲーム及びそれを原作としたアニメであり、その楽曲は音楽の多様性やトレンドに非常に敏感であるとされている。
2013年には既に旬を迎えていたEDM・ダブステップを取り入れた曲をOPに起用しているし、他にもメタルやロカビリー、ディスコ、ジャズなどあらゆるジャンルを取り入れている。
その中にも、いわゆる「渋谷系っぽい」音楽というものが存在し、子供の世代にも渋谷系の種は既に播かれている。

本来の「渋谷系」の意味するところから少しずつ意味合いは変化し、若者にとっての「渋谷系」は既に当時のムーヴメントであった「渋谷系」とは異なるところへ向かいつつある。
DMCにおいて強調された「渋谷系＝可愛くてポップ」というイメージや、ひなビタ♪で紹介された「ちょっとシャレオツなカンジの雰囲気ポップス」というイメージが強くなっているようだ。

I’m not the first person by a long shot to make this point, but it’s fairly amazing how much of Japan’s relative slide since the early 90s can be explained not by economics per se but by demography.
Using the Total Economy Database — another useful source — I find that from 1992 to 2007 (eve of the crisis), Japanese GDP per capita fell from 88 percent of US GDP per capita to 76 percent. That sounds bad, and it is. But about two-thirds of that decline can be explained by the aging of Japan’s population. According to the OECD factbook, in 1992 working-age adults were 69.7 percent of Japan’s population, compared with 65.5 in the US; by 2007, the Japanese number was down to 64, while the US number was up to 67.
Demography is not the whole story; Japan has stayed depressed, deflation is a problem, labor markets are poor (although the trouble tends to show in rising numbers of freeters rather than high measured unemployment.) Still, when you look at Japan’s declining share of world GDP, and even its relative decline in per capita GDP, the biggest single cause is the declining number of working-age Japanese.

最初に告白させてください。20年ほど前にしたあることを私は後悔しています。あまり自慢できないようなことをしてしまいました。誰にも知られたくないと思うようなことです。それでも明かさなければならないと感じています(ざわざわ)。1980年代の後半に私は若気の至りからロースクールlaw schoolに行ったのです(笑)。
In America, 法律は専門職学位です。まずuniversityを出て、それからlaw schoolへ行きます。law schoolで私はあまり成績が芳しくありませんでした。控えめに言ってもあまり良くなく、上位90パーセント以内という成績で卒業graduateしました(笑)。どうもlaw関係の仕事はしたことがありません。やらせてallowed toもらえなかったというべきかも (笑)。
But today, betterではないことだとは思いつつ、wifeの忠告にも反しながら、このlegal skillsを再び引っ張り出すことにしました。今日はstoryはtellしません。主張caseを立証します。合理的で証拠evidenceに基づいた法廷におけるような論証で、how we run our businessesを再考してみたいと思います。
陪審員juryの皆さん, take a look at this。This is called 「ロウソクの問題」。ご存じの方もいるかもしれません。1945年にKarl Dunckerという心理学者psychologistがこの実験experimentを考案し、様々な行動scienceのexperimentで用いました。ご説明しましょう。私が実験者だとします。私はあなた方を部屋に入れてcandleと画鋲thumbtackとマッチmatchesを渡します。そしてこう言います。「テーブルtableに蝋waxがたれないようにcandleを壁wallに取り付けattachしてください。」Now what would you do?

次にSam Glucksbergというscientistが、このcandle problemを使って行ったexperimentをご紹介します。彼は現在Princeton Universityにいます。この実験でthe power of incentivesがわかります。彼は参加者participantsを集めてこう言いました。「this problemをどれくらい早く解けるsolveできるか時計で計ります。」そしてone groupにはthis sort of problemを解くのに一般にどれくらい時間がかかるのかaverage時間を知りたいのだと言います。もう1つのgroupには報酬rewardsを提示します。「上位25percentの人には5dollarsお渡しします。fastestになった人は20dollarsです。」Now this is several years ago。物価上昇inflationを考慮に入れればa few minutes of workでもらえるmoneyとしては悪くありません。十分なmotivatorになります。
このグループはどれくらい早く問題を解けたのでしょう？答えはon average, 3分半余計に時間がかかりました。Three and a half minutes longer。そんなのおかしいですよね？I'm an American。I believe in 自由市場。そんな風になるわけがありません(笑)。If you want people to perform better, 報酬を出せばいい。Bonuses, commissions, あるいは何であれ、incentiveを与えるのです。That's how business works。しかしここでは結果が違いました。Thinkingが鋭くなり、creativityが加速されるようにと、incentiveを用意したのに、結果はoppositeになりました。思考は鈍く、creativityは阻害されたのです。
この実験experimentがinterestingなのは、それが例外aberrationではないということです。この結果は何度も何度もfor nearly 40 years 再現replicateされてきたのです。この成功報酬的な動機付けmotivators―If Then式に「これをしたらこれが貰える」というやり方は、in some circumstancesでは機能します。しかし多くのtasksではうまくいかず、時には害harmにすらなります。これはsocial scienceにおける最も確固robustとした発見findingsの1つです。そして最も無視ignoreされている発見でもあります。
私はthe last couple of years, human motivationの科学に注目してきました。特に外的動機付けextrinsic motivatorsと内的動機付けintrinsic motivatorsのdynamicsについてです。大きな違いがあります。If you look at これ、scienceが解明したこととbusinessで行われていることにmismatchがあるのがわかります。business operating system、つまりビジネスの背後にある前提assumptionsや手順においては、how we motivate people、どう人を割り当てるかという問題は、もっぱらextrinsic motivators(アメとムチ)にたよっています。That's actually fine for many kinds of 20th century tasks。But for 21st century tasks, 機械的mechanisticなご褒美と罰reward-and-punishmentというapproachは機能せず、うまくいかないか、害harmになるのです。Let me show you what I mean。
Glucksbergはこれと似たanother experimentもしました。このように若干違ったslightly differentな形で問題を提示したのです。Tableにwaxがたれないようにcandleを壁にattachしてください。条件は同じ。あなたたちは平均時間を計ります。あなたたちにはincentiveを与えます。What happened this time？今回はincentivizedグループの方が断然勝ちました。Why？箱に画鋲が入っていなかったから。it's pretty easy isn't it?(「サルでもわかる」ロウソクの問題) (笑)
If-then rewards work really well for those sorts of tasks。Simpleなルールとclearな答えがある場合です。Rewardsというのはfocusを狭めmindを集中させるものです。That's why報酬が機能する場合が多い。だからこのような狭い視野で目の前にあるゴールをまっすぐ見ていればよい場合にはthey work really well。But for the real candle problem, そのような見方をしているわけにはいきません。The solutionが目の前に転がってはいないからです。周りを見回す必要があります。Rewardはfocusを狭め、私たちの可能性possibilityを限定restrictしてしまうのです。
Let me tell you why this is so important。In western Europe, in many parts of Asia, in North America, in Australia, white collarの仕事にはthis kind of workは少なく、このような種類の仕事が増えています。That routine, rule-based, left brain work, certain kinds of accounting, certain kinds of financial analysis, certain kinds of computer programingは 簡単にアウトソースできます。簡単にautomateできます。Softwareのほうが早くできます。世界中にLow-cost providersがいます。だから重要になるのはthe more right-brained creative, conceptual kinds of abilitiesです。
Your own workを考えてみてください。Youが直面faceしている問題は、あるいはweがここで議論しているようなproblemsは、こちらのkindでしょうか？A clear set of rules, and a single solutionがあるような？そうではないでしょう。ルールはあいまいで、答えはそもそも存在するとしての話ですが、驚くようなsurprisingものであり、けっして自明obviousではありません。Everybody in this room is dealing with their own version of the candle problem。And for candle problems of any kind, in any field, if-then rewardsは機能しないのです。企業の多くはそうしていますが。

There is a 食い違い between what 科学 knows and what ビジネス does. And the いいニュース about all of this is that scientistsが新しいapproachを示してくれているということです. It's an approach built much more around 内的な motivation. Around the desire to do things because they matter, because we 好き it, because they're 面白い, because they are 何か重要なことの一部. And to my mind, that new operating system for our businesses revolves around three elements: 自主性、成長、目的. 自主性, the 欲求 to 方向 our own lives. 成長, the desire to get better and better at 何か大切なこと. 目的, the 切望 to do what we do in the service of 大きな何か than ourselves. これらがour businessesのentirely new operating systemの要素なのです.
I want to talk today only about 自主性. In the 20th 世紀, we came up with this idea of マネジメント. Management did not 自然に生じた. Management is like -- it's not a 木. It's a テレビ. Okay? Somebody 発明した it. And it doesn't mean it's going to work 永久に. Management is great. 服従を望むなら, Traditional notions of management are ふさわしい. しかし参加を望むなら, 自主性 works better.
Let me give you some 例 of some kind of 過激なnotions of 自主性. What this means -- あまり多くはありませんが 、非常に面白いことが起きています. Because what it means is paying people 適切に and 公正に, 間違いなく. Getting お金の問題 off the table. And then giving people 大きな自主性. Let me give you 具体的な例.
How many of you ご存じ of the 会社 Atlassian? 半分もいない感じですね(笑). Atlassian is an オーストラリアのソフトウェア会社. And they do すごくクールなこと. A few times a year they tell their エンジニア, "これから24時間何をやってもいい, as long as it's not part of your regular job. Work on 好きなことを何でも" So that エンジニア use this time to come up with a cool 継ぎ接ぎ for code, come up with an エレガントなハック. Then they 何を作ったのか見せる to their teammates, to the rest of the company, in 雑然とした全員参加の会合 at the end of the day. And then, オーストラリアですから, everybody has a ビール.
They call them 「FedExの日」. Why? Because you 何かを一晩で送り届けなければならない. It's 素敵. It's not bad. It's a huge 商標権 侵害. But it's pretty clever. (Laughter) That one day of 集中的な自主活動 has produced 多数の software 修正 that might never have existed.

They just have to 仕事を成し遂げる. How they do it, when they do it, where they do it, is totally up to them. ミーティング in these kinds of environments are オプショナル.
What happens? ほとんどの場合, productivity goes up, 雇用期間 goes up, 社員満足度 goes up, 離職率 goes down. 自主性Autonomy, 成長mastery and 目的purpose, These are the 構成要素 of a new way of doing things. Now some of you might look at this and say, "Hmm, 結構だけど、it's 夢物語." And I say, "Nope. I have 証拠."
The mid 1990s, Microsoft started an 百科事典encyclopedia called Encarta. They had deployed all the right インセンティブ. All the right incentives. One: Those 20th century rewards, those motivators we think are a 当然 part of business, do work, but only in a surprisingly narrow band of circumstances. Two: Those if-then rewards often 損なう creativity. Three: The 秘訣 to high performance isn't rewards and punishments, but that 見えない intrinsic drive. The drive to do things 自分自身のため. The drive to do things それが重要なことだから.
And here's the best part. Here's the best part. We already know this. The science confirms what we know in our hearts. So, if we repair this mismatch between what science knows and what business does, If we bring our motivation, notions of motivation into the 21st century, if we get past this lazy, dangerous, ideology of carrots and sticks, we can strengthen our businesses, we can solve a lot of those candle problems, and maybe, maybe, maybe we can change the world. おおよそ一ヶ月間、はてなTOPの注目のキーワードをコピペしてみた。
これ誰が注目してるんだ？これほとんどテレビからの話ばっかりだよな？
ホントにこんなもんが注目に値するのか？誰の趣味だ？
先ほど、すごいことを発見しました。それは、「政権が長期政権かどうかは、首相の学歴にズバリ、比例する傾向にある」ということです。この学歴問題を引き合いに出すのは「タブー」になっているのですが、歴代首相を論じる以上は首相の出身大学について語らないわけには行かないのです。

これを見て分かることは非常に多い。まず気が付くのは、宮澤喜一首相を最後に東大出身の首相がいない、ということです。ここ数代は、慶応と早大のたすきがけ的な形で続いています。
そして、一般的な「偏差値」が高い大学を出た政治家は首相になると「長期政権」になるということです。これは、上の履歴書をみると明らかです。
調べるまでは、まさかそんなことは、と思っていましたが、「政治家における学歴差別」は歴然として存在するのです。これで、なぜ安倍首相が不人気なのか、信望がないのかがよく分かりました。偏差値の高い大学出身の首相は、まわりに似たような学歴の政治家がたくさんいるワケです。そうすると「同窓会ネットワーク」の層が厚い。
同じ大学の仲間意識で皆が支え合うという意識があるわけです。これは、アメリカにおいても同様で、ブッシュ大統領はあれだけバカだと言われていますが、しっかりエスタブリッシュメント大学のイエールを卒業し、しかも、エリートクラブ出身です。それを考えると、安倍首相は哀れなくらいに学歴が低い。いや、学歴が低いといよりは、彼の場合には「受験を経験していない」のです。
受験を経験していないということは、「忍耐力がない」「修羅場の経験がない」という風に一般的に判断されます。しかも、安倍首相は小学校からのエスカレーターです。普通に受験して成蹊大学に入っているわけではない。これは非常にマイナス点です。
日本では、東大受験に成功することが最高のステータスシンボルであり、東大は一時期までは総理大臣を供給する大学でした。アメリカのジャパン・ハンドラーズの研究には「東大」の研究書もいくつもあるんです。東大は官僚制度と政治家にネットワークを持つ。これが日本の最大のパワーだったわけです。

同様に、早稲田大学は在野の精神で早大雄弁会を結成し、これも政治家供給源になってきました。慶応大学もどうように政財界に太いパイプがある。小泉前首相と綿貫国民新党党首の共通項はともに慶応出身というところです。意外なところで接点があって、それが情報交換のきっかけになったりする。

そこに行くと、大変失礼なのですが、成蹊大学出身の有力政治家というのはほとんどいません。政治家の仲間がいないということは、つながるネットワークが少ない、ということ。安倍首相のネットワークは「安晋会」のようないかがわしい人たちの集まった後援会組織だったり、父親の晋太郎の時代からのサポートスタッフです。
安倍晋太郎は、病気で早くに亡くなっており、これを継ぐ形で晋三が政治家になっています。安倍家には、東大出身の寛信という三菱商事・中国支社のエリートビジネスマンもいましたが、なぜか彼ではなく、晋三に白羽の矢が立っている。
そうなると、何にも自分だけの基盤がないエスカレーター学歴の彼には、父の周辺の後援会に頼るしかなかった。そうなれば、晋三はいいなりです。広域ナントカ団だったり、地元の土建業者だったりがまとわりついてくる。それをさばくのは側近たる秘書なのでしょう。
こうなると、なぜ東大出身の寛信氏が後継者にならなかったのかが気になります。順当に東大出の晋太郎が総理大臣になっていれば、晋三が後継者になることはなかったのではないか、と強く思います。しかも、晋三氏には「南カリフォルニア大学」在学時の学歴詐称疑惑で騒がれたこともあります。結局、卒業はしていないということだったようです。民主党の代議士の学歴詐称を追及している段階で噴出した問題でした。

上のリストに戻りますが、小学校卒業の田中角栄内閣は、やはり短命政権でした。しかし、彼は安倍首相と違い、たたき上げで、一級建築士の資格も持っていた。だから、それなりにポイントは高かったのだろうと思います。鈴木善幸首相もやっぱり短命政権。宇野宗佑首相も、羽田孜首相も・・・・。みんな“ポイント”が低かった。
これを法則化して理解した上で他の首相をみていくと、細川護煕首相、上智大学出身。細川政権は約一年しか続いていません。早大出身の海部政権は約三年続いています。この事実から、キリスト教大学である上智大学は、首相になる場合の「持ち点」が少し低い、ということになるでしょう。ちなみに政治家では野田聖子さんが上智出身です。村山元首相の明治大というのも微妙なところなのでしょう。
そこに行くと、面白いのは、故・三塚博さんと小渕優子さんです。三塚さんは、派閥の領袖も務めた大政治家です。彼は、東京獣医畜産専門学校（現日本大学生物資源科学部）を経て早稲田大学第一法学部へ学士入学し、1951年に卒業。在学中は雄弁会に所属しています。わざわざ早稲田に学士入学しています。これは雄弁会に入るためでしょう。雄弁会というのは、今は威光もかげってきましたが、それでも現内閣では山本金融大臣を初め出身者が多い。森元首相、竹下元首相も雄弁会ネットワークです。三塚さんは学士入学で早稲田に入って持ち点を上げようとしたわけです。残念ながら、その努力は報われませんでしたが、閣僚にはなっています。
同様に、早稲田大学に社会人になった後に入学したケースとしては、元首相の娘さんである小渕優子さんの例があります。彼女の場合は大学院です。小渕さんは、羽田首相と同じ、成城大学出身です。この大学は意外に政治家が多い。しかし首相になったのは羽田さんだけです。しかも短命政権でした。
そこで小渕さんは、女性なので雄弁会には入れないのですが、早稲田大学に政治家をやりながら入学するという「奇策」に打って出ました。これは凄い。さすがは政治家の娘です。政治感覚が鋭いなあと思います。成城大学では幾ら政治家として頑張っても総理大臣はなれない、と冷酷に判断したのでしょう。早稲田に入学したということは、早稲田出身の政治家のネットワークの末席に置いてもらえる可能性がある、ということです。それでもなかなか首相への道は厳しいでしょうが・・・・。なんだか応援したくなりますね。
そう考えると、小学校からのエスカレーターの安倍晋三という人が首相になっていることは、国際的な一大スキャンダルである可能性が高いのです。安倍首相が国際的に影が薄いのも早稲田や慶応のネットワークに入っていないからかもしれない。そう考えると、一応、外国の政治家の経歴を調査する情報機関の間では、東大、早稲田、慶応の当たりの大学は評価されている、という見方も出来そうです。これが安倍さんが慶応幼稚舎出身だったらもう少し違ったのかもしれないですね。
そのようにしながら、日本の政治家を出身大学別に持ち点でプロファイリングしていくのも面白いと思います。同じ慶応や早稲田でも、政経学部か文学部か（例：石橋湛山）、第一部（昼間）か第二部（夜間）かで大きく違うのでしょう。私の出身は早稲田の一．五部と言われた社学出身なので、政治家的には微妙なポジションでしょう。
こういう当たり前のことは差別になるといってタブー視されていますが、やはり安倍政権は坊ちゃん政権だったのです。周りに大学のネットワークがないから、変なおかしい団体が支援者として食っ付いてくるわけです。そう考えると、やはり安倍政権、長くないでしょう。
ここでどう考えるべきか判断に苦しむのは、ポスト安倍の麻生太郎外相の扱いです。学習院大学政経学部政治学科卒業とあります。その他、スタンフォード、ロンドン大学に留学しているようですが学位があるかどうかは分かりません。学習院というのはどういう扱いになるか。彼は皇族の血が入っていると同時に、カトリック教徒です。クリスチャン政治家では、大平首相がいますが、これは短命政権に終わりました。（病気だったからかもしれないですが）学習院出身の首相はいないので、これが持ち点が高いのか、低いのかは分からない。ただ成蹊大学出の安倍首相よりは間違いなく麻生外相の方が持ち点は高いはずです。
そこへいくと、同じように微妙なのが東大出身の谷垣禎一元財務大臣です。彼が首相になれば久々の東大出身総理となります。しかし、彼は消費税を上げたりして、短命政権になるでしょう。その後に、つまり消費税上げをやった後に、民主党政権が出来るかもしれない。
つまり、大蔵官僚が、自民党に責任をおっかぶせて自分たちは民主党政権をコントロールするという考え方です。官僚を統制しているのは一部にはアメリカです。今の官僚制度をコントロールできる角栄のような政治家がいないので、官僚制度も政治家同様、アメリカに目を向けて指示を仰いでいるんでしょうね。
そう考えると、安倍首相がやたらと左翼思想を批判したり、「美しい国」というようないかがわしいタイプの保守思想を喧伝したがるのも、東大学歴に対するコンプレックスなのかもしれないですね。安倍家、佐藤家には東大出身が多いですからね。東大といえば、左翼思想、丸山真男、というわけです。「家庭の事情」で教育改革をやられては非常に困るわけですが・・・・。
まあ、政治家の価値は学歴だけで決まるというわけではないでしょうが、実際に統計的に結果が出てしまっているのは隠せませんね。
代々木ゼミの偏差値表をみながら、地元の政治家をプロファイルしてみてはいかがでしょうか？
