視聴（入場）制限はないが、子供に見せる前に保護者が内容を検討することを提案したもの。保護者の教育方針によっては、子供に適さないと考えられる内容を含む可能性がある作品。
実際に子供に見せるべきか否かの判断は保護者に委ねられており、保護者によっては問題ないと判断したり、「保護者の監督」の提案自体を無視することもある。
例えば恋愛物でPG指定なら、日本で言う「成人向け要素」（濃厚なキスシーン）はない。子供に見せてよいかどうか慎重に検討すべき作品ならPG-13以上になるからである。
