一時期ずっとiPad AirのCMで流れていたウォルト・ホイットマンの詩「O Me! O Life!」。
訳してみた。

O Me! O Life!
O me! O life!... of the questions of these recurring
Of the endless trains of the faithless--of cities fill'd with the foolish
Of myself forever reproaching myself, (for who more foolish than I, and who more faithless?)
Of eyes that vainly crave the light--of the objects mean--of the struggle ever renew'd
Of the poor results of all--of the plodding and sordid crowds I see around me
Of the empty and useless years of the rest--with the rest me intertwined
The question, O me! so sad, recurring--What good amid these, O me, O life?
That you are here--that life exists, and identity
That the powerful play goes on, and you will contribute a verse

おお私よ！人生よ！
おお私よ！人生よ！...幾度となく繰り返される疑問の数々。
何処までも続く不信心者たちの長蛇の列、馬鹿者で満たされた都会の街、
永遠と自分を責め続ける私自身、（最も馬鹿で不信心なの私ではないだろうか？）、
あてもなく光を求める虚ろな目や、卑怯な物事、絶えず繰り返される悪あがきや、
全ての残念な結果、周りにいるだらしなく不潔な連中や、
残された空虚で無意味な残りの歳月、私に絡みつく残りの事象に。
質問。私よ、悲しくも繰り返される、この渦中に少しでも良いことはあるのだろうか？私よ、人生よ。
解答。
それは「お前がここにいる」ということ。そこに生命が存在し、アデンティティがあるということ。
その演技は力強く続き、そしていつの日か一節を捧げるのだ。
