グルメなタダ飯食いの戯れ言である。
Youtubeの登場はひとつのエポックメイキングな出来事だった。これによりウェブに動画をアップロードすることが非常に簡単になり、一気にウェブ上を流通する動画コンテンツの量が増加した。また、Youtubeが提供するユーザーインターフェースの各所や外部ブログへの対応もシンプルだが使いやすく強力だ。
国内では、個人による動画コンテンツのアップロードといえば、アップローダーを通じて細々とやりとりされるものであったか、P2Pネットワークを通じてのやりとりという房事的な行為であった。それが、Youtubeの登場により、品質・サイズ・長さの制約はあるにしても、誰もが簡単に手持ちの動画コンテンツをアップロードし公開することが可能になった。その結果、Youtubeはオンラインに存在する誰もが利用できるビデオライブラリーとなった。ただしそこで流通している動画コンテンツの内実は、Youtubeのキャッチコピーである“Broadcast Yourself”に見合う、利用者が自分で作成した動画コンテンツではない。Youtube開発者は個人のオリジナルコンテンツを公開する場というありかたを考えていたのだろうけど、だれがそんな面倒くさいことをしますか、そんなもののどこが面白いのですかという利用者側の声なき声に支えられて、共有ビデオデッキとして使用されているのがYoutubeの現状である。
YoutubeはWeb2.0の代表格として扱われている（＊ソースを書く）が、その中央集権型のサービス体制は、食らいついてくるマッシュアップが生み出す2次的な付加の増大に対処し続けることができるのか。
Youtubeも権利者からクレームを受けることが増えて、違法コンテンツのアップロードには敏感になっている。つまり、当初のようなオンラインビデオライブラリー（←過去に放送されたテレビ番組の）という位置づけは望めなくなってきている。（確率的な閲覧（＝アップロードはされるけれどすぐに消されてしまう））では、オンラインビデオライブラリーたり得ない）
すると、Yoububeは別の存在価値を己に課していかなければならないわけで、目下期待できる使い道は
といった案が思い浮かぶが、前者はめったに面白いものが現れない（知り合いの同士で撮影した動画を閲覧するという使い方はある。mixi動画はそういった用途で始まった）し、後者はマスメディアがそこになんらかの儲けを得られると考えなければ流行らないだろう。
Youtubeが潰れるにはどういう流れが考えられるか。資金難で閉鎖するか、偉い人に潰されるか。資金難は、広告で稼ぐというモデルでなんとかなるか。Googleにも買収されたし。いまのところ、Youtubeは金の卵的な扱いを受けているし。偉い人の件は、常に問題としてくすぶっている。
現在の漠然とした印象では、Youtubeは今のぬるい状態を続けながら、ぬるい動画配信インフラとして存在し続ける気がする。テレビクリップはアップロードされては消されるという確率的ビデオライブラリー（確率的というのは見られるときもあれば見られないときもあるということ）として存続する。その間、別のエポックメイキングなインフラ整備（たとえば携帯電話の通信速度高速化や利用料金の定額化・低額化）があれば、何か新しい使い道も見えてくるかもしれない。
Googleの中の人たちが日本でテレビ局と交渉した翌日の出来事。
